Yinka, I feel the same way. In many ways I feel we have the same style and in other ways we have different styles but I still respect and enjoy all your work. We share the same passion for photography, life, and of course we have the same Father. Congrats Yinka for your accomplishments. You definitely deserve them.

P.S. It's the equipment that records the images. It's the artist who makes those images great. You're a good example of that.

I wouldn't hang this on my wall or keep it on my desk, but I still like the high contrast effect. Looks like you also played with Highlights/Shadows in PS. Perhaps a bit too much.

...."sort of american-like." That's a pretty european thing to say. I didn't know only Americans were sweet. I can see your point about the light.

This sure doesn't lack in the WOW category. I love the contrast in this and yet you still have lots of dynamic range. Just my style. Great job.

Paolo, I much prefer your earlier posts of this simular shot. The treatment you gave this one renders it a bit flat on the uppper portion of the image. It almost looks like it has a mask of gray haze over it. My guess is that you're trying to pull out some more dynamic range, but I think you're sacraficing image quality by doing that.

Emily, this certainly doesn't lack in the WOW factor. The red shirt really is a good contrast to his bright blue eyes. Just a little nitpick, but the only that that bhothers me is the red on the left background. Still a winner. Did you use the Jinky action?

Eileen, if you're going to request critiques on your photos, you may want to turn off the time/date feature on your camera. As far as the images goes, I don't think it works well. The way it is composed, it looks like the barge is going straight for her nose and the yellow bar into her mouth. There's also a color cast and it needs a fill flash. At least your horizon is level.
  1. Nice one Walt. Great exposure on what must have been a very difficult situation, dealing with the dark rocks, moving water and the sun's rays. I like how my eye starts from the bottom of the stream and is rewarded when I follow it up by the gentle light casting from above. Might be one of your best considering the conditions.
  2. Can't really see Mt Hood. You should have shot this about 15-20 minutes prior to this when the light would have been less harsh and bright. As it is right now, you have a bright white and yellow spot casting smaller red spots.
