    Austvågsøya

David, thanks for your thoughtful comments. The fence thing bothers me too, but the end of it was in a ditch, and as you can see, the lower half of the image was in shadow and so it was tough to include more of the "drab". Really appreciate what you have to say. Best, Jeff

    Ice Beach

Thanks for looking Tony. This was a morning in Feb 2015. The ice chunks were on the east side of the beach, and the sun and clouds collaborated so nicely. Was there a few weeks ago (March 2016) and the chunks were on the west shore. And, unfortunately, a hit-&-miss with lighting. I tried to work with what was presented-- Jökulsárlón Gems. Best, Jeff

    Lower Kirkjufellsfoss

Thanks Tony. This one was in very tight quarters. A younger fellow was behind me to the left getting soaked by runoff & icicle drippage! He was using a handheld Sony Zeiss-- a dinky thing-- with no tripod. Impressive to see the spirit of the new generation! I like the composition of this, but unfortunately the sky and the many tourists weren't cooperating. Best, Jeff

    Remember The Epine

1/13; f/11; 24 mm. The suction of the sea is powerful as violent waves crash ashore. Twisted shipwreck metal, including the 1948 wreck of The Epine, litters the beach hundreds of meters upon the shore. Djupalon Beach, "the deep lagoon", is said to be haunted.

1/20 s; f/11; 15 mm. Dozens of photographers walked upon this huge chunk of ice. By morning, the entire foreground was water.
