Took a bit of work to get into this spot, but I think it was worth
it. What an absolutely beautiful town ....

I love the pose here, but I think it's a bit too noisy; I need to
ahve a go with Noise Ninja or something, I think. I also hate the
jellyfish that is right in front of the little boy's head and
disturbs his silhouette. Actually, I didn't notice it until just
now, but now it is driving me crazy.

You can't really see, but he is balancing a drum on his foot and
twirling in a cirle while he plays. At the same time, they twist
their heads to make the ribbon on his hat spin in circles. This is a
traditional drumming performance I came across in front of Pagoda
Park in Seoul. I took a lot of pictures that show the drummers
better, but this one captures how much some of the people in the
crowd got into it. BTW, I didn't notice that he was in the picture
but the guy in the red hat made me eat a dish of his stuff about ten
minutes after that. He was friendly and the food was great. I love
Korea.

I went below Ramsey Cascades in order to try to obtain a different
view. I like the cascading effect and I think I handled the exposure
difference bewteen the sky and the foreground ok, although I wish
there was a bit more light in the foreground. But, I think I
completely lost the sense of scale. These top of the falls are over
100 feet (30 meters) above me, but the picture really doesn't convey
that. Does anyone have any idea how I can show everything and
introduce more of a feeling of height? Maybe shoot from further away
with a longer lens?

A part of my Red State series. Please see the rest of the folder for
context. This was taken in Prattvelle, AL.

A gorgeous little town in the Dordogne region of France. BTW, if
anyone can tell me what kind of trees these are, I'd appreciate it.
I see them everywhere but was never sure exactly what they are.

The Housing and Urban Development Building Downtown in Washington, a
neat photo place that is a bit off the normal tourist circuit.

A view of the new zone of Shanghai at night. Everything you see
here - and quite a bit more - has been constructed in the last ten
years.

The subject line isn't me being corny; that's what the central
building at the University of Pittsburgh is called. What a great
building! You could film a Harry Potter movie in here without
changing anything.

This was taken from a belltower in Bordeaux, France. I'm still
working on getting a BW conversion I like. I haven't decided about
this. Part of me thinks it's too contrasty and too white, but part
of me really likes the look, almost infrared.
-
The cliffside town of Rocamadour, one of the most visited sites in
France. We drove to the bottom looking for a different view and I
hopped across a stream to find this. FOr some reason, it looks a bit
more contrasty here on PN then it does in the print.

Pittsburgh on one of the coldest days of the year, a couple days
after a huge storm. I was quite frozen waiting for this train to get
in position (the first time it got there my lens froze and wouldn't
focus so I had to warm it up and shoot again) but I loved this
surprisingly beautiful city.

What always fascinates me about a mosque (or most non-Christian
religous buildings that I have seen) is how they are community
centers as much as places to worship. People come there to read, to
sleep, to lay around on the carpet and talk. This picture, I think
shows a bit of that. Anyway, I took about four shots here, but I
couldn't get it to look as straight as I wanted. I have another shot
that looks a bit more geometric, but you can't see the lights, whcih
I quite like.
-
-
I like the tilt ... I probably would ahve shot this straight to emphasize the geometry but this is better.

lovely and different and yet another example that some rules are meant to be broken.

I see where you were going here and I like it, but it needs to be more composed for me.
-
Obviously this is not asthetically pleasing but just as obviously, that wasn't what you were going for. This is a powerful, interesting image although I'm not sure what I should think of it. However, it did make me look at the rest of the folder, whch could use some pruning but has some really unique images in it. I'll be back to look at the rest of your portfolio later. You really have a great eye and it's wonderful to see something so real.
-
I like this a lot ... it reminds me a ...um .... someone whose name i can't recall. Anyway, i love the alck of pretension and the realistic color.
-
Creative and interesting. The makeup (or digital?) is nice, but it's the pose that really makes it for me. I like the emphasis on the hand.
-
Wonderfully sharp and clear. Great color. Good work
