He does look angry ... I didn't notice till I read you comment. Anyway, very nice job. Good catch light and you got the focus right on the eye. I'm not completely convinced about the background but all in all, it's really great.

I love this spot ... it's on the main highway halfway between Madrid

and Zaragoza and a long way from anything, so I tried to plan my

drive to pass that way around sunset and got lucky. Unfortunately,

it's a two lane road with a 1 meter wide shoulder and than a deep

dish so actually taking the picture was a little scarier than I

    would have liked.

What do you think about this ... I'm kinda unconvinced. It's a

beautiful place, and I like the composition and the idea in theory.

In practice, I don't know that that big clump of grass with all that

    detail is all that interesting.

I'm always fascinated by how shutter speed can alter reality. In

actuality, this place was packed with people (there were probably 15

on the bridge) and the waves were crashing; I got soaked taking

this. However, the 10 second shutter blurs the people and the waves

and makes it look quite peaceful.

Thanks, Lizzie ... I didn't post the details for this but this is called ... well, I don't remember the Chinese name right now but it means "Platform of the Three Immortals." It's about an hour and a half South of Hualien on Taiwan's unpopulated east coast. It was really crowded so I tried a long shutter speed to de=emphasize the people a bit.

This is really great. Wonderful color and the compostion is very well thought. I wonder if you could move around a bit and center the dome a bit more in the diamond at the back without destroying the foreground? Anyway, very well seen and exceptionally executed.
  1. This is lovely. This was actually built about 25 years after the much more famous Milano galleria but I have always preferred this building. At night time, the stores close and kids play soccer in here. Anyway, lovely picture and you got it at a really great time when there was still some outdoor light but it wasn't too crowded. Nice, natural color also. We seem to have been in all the same places!

Great shot, Francisca. Now, check out my Sain portfolio to see why I love this so much. I took the exact same picture a few weeks ago ... even the same title. Don't worry! I love your portfolio and I love this picture and I'm not suggesting anything untoward at all. But, isn't it really interesting how two photographers can independently take pictures that are so similar, especially something as obscure and "original" as this? It's not like we took straight ahead pictures of the building; this is kind of unusual and different and not everyone would see it. But, we both saw it the same way at different times. BTW, if I ahd to pick, I prefer your version. It's a bit sharper.
  2. These are streetlights that light up the sidewalks of the artificial

pier in Barcelona harbor, just outside the aquarium and IMAX. In the

background are the boats of the harbor and the famous statue of

Christopher Columbus that stands at the foot of La Rambla.

This is a statue (I guess, architectural object?) and the hemisphero

building at the City of Art in Valencia, Spain, a beautiful complex

of modern buildings constructed in a dry river that circles the side

    of the city.

Is this a "little" river or the Little River in the Smokies? I shoot there often and have some similar to this in my portfolio, but nothing that quite captures the peaceful feeling that this does. The light is so well captured and I know from experience how difficult this is to do.
