  1. Soft winter light barely lifts the frost muted hues to reveal a

delicate tapestry of colour and the tesselated ledges of the

Buachaille beyond. I suspect most will prefer a more vibrant

interpretation of this wonderful peak but this will do me nicely.

  2. Dunottar Castle at stonehaven, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on a rare and

beautiful summer morning. The light was extremely transient flickering

across the ramparts like blood. Nice place for vampires perhaps.

  3. The buzz of a billion bees grew in intensity as the first rays of a new day

stain the lavendar fields pink, yet leave the shaded portions blue. This

stage lasted around thirty seconds before the whole field yielded to

    direct sunlight and turned pink.

  4. Thankyou everyone for your kind comments, I thought it was a pretty good image but at one stage its average mark for aesthetic and originality was 4.2 which placed it around the bottom 1% making it easily the worst shot that I had ever put up on Photo Net.  Its now around the middle of the heap.

    Turquoise Cove

This remarkable little beach near Hopeman is one of my favourite places

to be during the summer months. In June, July and August, the sun

shines directly into the bays at sunset and warm light filters across the

pale rocks turning them to gold, but not on this occasion. This time a

heavy summer storm is billowing over Inverness and the sky is purple

with rage. Oddly this has given rise to incredible luminosity because

directly above my head is a huge white cloud pumping white light down

over the sea and pebbles, the long exposure was used in conjunction

with a polariser to emphasise the clarity of the turquoise water and the

pebbles can clearly be made out below a moderately turbulent sea.

  5. Even on a grey winters day this must be a wonderful position to site a

remote highland cottage but finding one freshly painted in white with a

brilliant red roof, proved picture postcard perfect and an irresistable

photo opportunity. The sun was just off axis and with careful shielding

of the lens I was able to make the most of this almost backlit scene the

sun causing the verdant green grass to glow enthusiastically beneath a

    suitably interesting sky.

  6. Stunning high key and surprisingly colorful winter image that has a great deal of appeal. That farm machinery is just a perfect foreground lead to the disappearing mountain in a white sky. Love the yellow grasses poking through too. Very well done Antonio. I wish you could have positioned a shot without that farm machinery behind the spoked wheels but I can see you had very little choice.

That's a fabulous natural looking landscape shot Gary with beautiful land sculpting courtesy of some glorious amber low light of a very different hue to the much cooler and wintery backdrop.

Well perhaps but only by about half a stop. The sky really was this ominous colour and the grad was brought down to the sea level. I personally think the reflected light in the sea is about right. The sky directly above the sand was quite white so more light was kicked up than normal. Overall I am happy with the way its presented.

My favourite beach in Scotland even when its raining and the skies are

overcast this place never fails to leave me spellbound. This is another

one of those little peat streams that meanders its way through soft red

sand down to a sea of turquoise beneath a pre-dawn purple sky. I am

always intrigued by the line of indigo coloured mountains that back the

bay, despite the weather I find the scene tirelessly beautiful in its

    meloncholy.

    Honey Light

Sunrise was disappointing but shortly after honey coloured light spread

over part of the Rannoch moor landscape at Glencoe and offered some

    wonderful opportunities.
