Good enough documentary photograph to include with text. What is this creature, looks like some type of mustelid, a ferret or something. Here in New Zealand before man arrived there were no land predators and many native birds lost the ability to fly as there was no threat. Introduced pests such as Mustelids are trapped in smaller versions of this bear trap and disposed of because of the massive damage they do to bird life.

Annual ANZAC Parade to honor fallen Australian and New Zealand
soldiers in various wars. Comments and critiques welcome as always.

It is a very nice concept and done with your usual style and panache Ilona. However I feel that the tonal seperation line just above the girls head needs to be blended in so as not to be visible to give the work its full potential. Are you putting your husband out in the cold and to work again in this image Ilona?

I can only echo the above comments of Sarah Daniels Colin. Another lovley pic of this elegant structure, with your fine eye for detail and perspective. No criticisms really, except that you forgot to pray to the God of Clouds before you left home this time.

The models were on long catwalk Colin, and at that time the credentialed photographers were allowed to roam along the side of it as long as they kept moving, so as not to obstruct the veiw of the audience. Yes, she was only a few feet away. 800 Fuji Press which is a very versatile film with quite fine grain for the speed rating. We used it at a 640 asa setting for most purpose's. Camera mounted flash for this pic as well, the excellent Nikon SB26 TTL. Thanks for the comment!

Dejans succinct comment says it all really, the whole scene just melds all the components together make an image that any photographer would be very proud to have in their portfolio. An iconic street image. I love the diverse rectangles that give harmony to the image.

The image was taken from the ground Alex, as the aircraft took off, using a 70-200 lens and a 1.4 convertor on a DSLR.

XK 150 this one is Mike, rare and expensive, around 200,000 grand for one in this nick. nice lens on that old camera too, contrasty and quite sharp.

Thanks Colin, yes a high shutter speed indeed,
4000th sec at f4. Sigma 70-200 2.8 EX HSM with a 1.4 convertor,
(448mm on a D60).
Hand held, and manual focused on the buoy.
As an engineer you will appreciate the fine work that went into the design and performance of this boat.
It could turn right angles at incredible speeds, this can be seen from the spray behind the marker buoy, at 90 degrees to the present direction of the boat and still airborne when the boat has right angled and is accelerating away.
It custom was built for a world class British racing boat driver by a local company, and this image is from when he came out to Picton, New Zealand to pick it up and and gave a public demo as he test piloted it before taking it home with him, to the UK.
The professionalism of this driver was top class, he had reflexes like a fighter pilot. Pretty close to that course marker at very high speed.
He liked his new boat!

So Colin, the present Earl of Suffolk has this as the family residence after his forebears repossessed it from the Monarchy for late mortgage payments?
Would be great to ave enough dosh to say.
"Oh yes, my good man, I want a nice bridge with a long drive sweeping through the lawns around to the house. Of course, you will have to create a lake for it to go over. Well, get on with it then, there's a good chap"
and I can just imagine the Head Groundsman, "Ere, late for work again junior groundsman, well you're on mowin this week, get art the push mower an git on wiv it!"
Nice pic with your two points of interest style and good colour sense. Beautiful bridge as well, would have to be a pretty classy troll to live under that one!

Here is a scan from another normal print Colin for comparison purposes.

Pic of the year. Awesome capture. I like Tony Dummetts vision of this as some malignant Intergalactic Jellyfish calling for a visit.

Lovely appearance of texture even though this image has been converted to electronic bytes so as to display on this site. Face to face with a print of decent size from that Gandolfi neg would be real nice. Great work as always Emil.
