My latest addition to my small lens collection: Pentax-M 50mm f2. I guess it's a little bit underrated mass-production lens from the film era, but it seems to be a very nice lens for my K-5II.
Pentax-M 50mm f2 @ f2.
Thanks, the background patterns and colors are created by the lens. There were lots of different colored reflections on the icy grass and I shot it at f1.4, which created these beautiful bokeh balls.
Thanks, this is a close-up photo of a shipping container. The container was gray coloured and looked very dull, but when I looked it closely I noticed these colourful scratches in the corner of the container. I guess the stacking of these containers causes these scratches.
Excellent. Those lines in the ice; it looks like the leaf has fallen on the water and immediately everything was frozen, the splash was frozen and you were there at the right time to capture it.
Beautiful, I first thought about a painting of rotten flowers. The upper right corner nut is a good addition, without it this one could be too abstract.
I like the background here, it's not completely smooth and therefore gives a little bit information about the background. I would say this looks quite a classic example of a photo shot with a vintage lens. I guess this could be done even smoother with modern lenses. But it's a matter of taste, which is better, smooth or completely smooth background. There are quite a typical "glow" on the some of the highlight areas, especially at the top of the hay, I have seen that kind of behaviour with my 50mm vintage lenses, too.
I agree on your thoughts. I like vintage lenses and how they render images, the results are not always so perfect, but that's the interesting thing about it, for me at least. I have only one lens which has a new design, modern coatings and several aperture blades and lens elements. It can do very smooth backgrounds for photos, but sometimes I find it a little bit boring, I think the out of focus areas are too smooth.
