    Hello Donald

Sorry to post this here, but your email does not work.

You have rated (systematically lower than all other members) a high number of my pictures, this is OK. I frankly only want to know why. My purpose in PN is to progress and learn and I'm prepared to read any comments also if your ratings were maybe a way to express that I had a ranking that was maybe not corresponding to the average quality of my pictures. I can understand and also accept this kind of argument, but I just ask you to drop me a line to explain.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    Imagine

Sometimes nature looks like a dream, for exemple yesterday on my way

out of the office I met this.

Now you can say I must

    1) belucky with my office location and

    2) to have my camera this days

I would say yes to the first because I ALWAYS have my camera....

    Thanks for comments and rating.

On this picture only the texture of the first bench has been changed (pasted from another picture), you are right it seems there is a double shade, but it is probably the difference in the snow layers around the bench that gives this illusion, I didnt change that (I wouldnt be able to...)

  1. I agree ith Lucas. More light on the face would have given a better shot. But again, it was maybe technicaly not possible and I would also feel a bit akward to ask this man to change the pose etc....Jean.

I like the expression of the man, congratulation; to me portrait of unknown people is the most difficult exercise..

  2. Incredible mother nature,

It seems t be a rather altered image, is is not I have modify it a

bit with changing he color saturation but not tha much ndeed, I guess

the adequate choice of a film can bring this picture as well on anon-

    digital camera.

Thank you for ratings and comments,

    Jean

  3. It is difficult to figure out what it is without explanations, and I do not know what you have done is PS, but the result counts and I love the mariage of the colours on those strange patterns,

I would definitively crop the bottom, The picture is otherwise very original, I like the colours and the pattern of the water on the flower and the light, so the fill in flash maybe but only if doest spoil the light from behind on the flower, Jean

  4. Daniel, thank you to also send such pictures that remind us of the condition of other people that have to struggle with problems that are more serious than any of our dicussions about photography. I cant even rate such a picture, I respect those doing it, but to me I cant find a sense in rating aestetic or originality here, we are talking about more serious things, this is life and death, this is the horror of war and conflicts and the willingness to live anyway.

  5. Thank you all for your nice and positive comments. As several asked, I will tell how I made it. I hope you will not disapointed by the simplicity. I did not expect such an interest for the picture and your remarks seems to indicate that is is a very sophisticated treatement.

It is indeed not. I have simply used the colour saturation filter in Paint shop, the effect obtained is more or less accentuated depending on the parameters used. I did not record those parameters usualy I just play until I find the color ans texture that I target. If you like I can easily find the parameters again (just let me know).

That was it for this time (always simple I'm nor very expert in those softwares, ..unfortunately..., but I have some plans to learn some day).

Thanks again for the ratings and positive comments,

    Jean
