I'm spending some of this evening updating the firmware on one of the flying robot cameras. It's fairly amazing how much the firmware has to do with (even after several changes) very visible changes in both the JPG rendering and the video encoding. It's a reminder of how much is happening in code as the sensor's raw data is dumped to the digital camera's storage. Of course this update also impacts the flight controller firmware, and the smart battery controller firmware, and the remote control transmitter firmware, and the accompanying iOS app that displays telemetry and camera control during flight. But really, I DO take pictures with it! Just not for this thread, since that's not Nikon hardware. But I did use a Nikon to take this photo while watching the update crawl along. Doing any housekeeping? Share some photos on this fine Nikon Wednesday!

00dowk-561639584.jpg.f1679f2cfe6c04aff5d118025cb82c96.jpg

My recent housekeeping has been to round up film that's been sitting around for who knows how long, and get it developed. There are a couple of rolls I can't even connect to a camera any more, but a couple I can. The film development seemed a bit grainy, and the scans not up to the usual standards, but it's still fun to get film back sometimes.

Here's one from a couple of years ago, or actually probably a few, taken with the Nikon L35AW and some kind of cheap 200 speed film that sat out too long. A heron takes off as we're canoeing.

00down-561639684.jpg.74229c9226d5a1df4cbdfd955d607e21.jpg

It took about two years to finish firing off the last roll in my F4. Shame on me. Fuji 400 film here (the L35 was Rite Aid 200 I think, which kind of dates it). Anyway, at some point I put the 85/2.8 lens on it to confirm that it's pretty nice to focus in a full frame finder.

00dowr-561639984.jpg.f70930b9e3163515524017e7c893c5d5.jpg

Great pictures from everyone! I am happy to see some more film examples this time around. No "housekeeping" to speak of but, I will continue with some more film examples. Film was souped in Caffenol STD recipe @ 4 min 30 sec and the negatives were scanned and corrections made in Lightroom 5
