Patterson System 4 broken or variation ?

I was just wondering (as my memory is old) if anyone can help. <br>

Is this tank broken, ie the lid is separate from the funnel? It's been ages since I used these often and I thought this was how this tank is meant to be. </p>

<p>Yep it is separated. The funnel should be attached.</p>

<p>A little epoxy resin adhesive should fix it. BTW, do you also have the gasket that fits around the top of the tank?</p>

<p>I know. i'm useless. I used these at uni lots, but I only use an old one now myself.<br>

<br />I do remember checking it over and thinking it's all light baffles, and once together it looked OK. I really should have looked closer. </p>

<p><strong>No !</strong> The tank is not broken this is the tank I use at home instead of the Super System 4. The way it works is that you first load the film to the reel in total darkness. Then you insert the reel into the tank, then comes the funnel, then the lid, the stem is optional then you place the rubber cap over the lid.</p>

<p>Harry - the tank IS BROKEN. The light trap,top left in photo,should be firmly attached to the tank lid -top right in photo.<br>

This is a common design fault in these tanks. I have four,and I have had to repair them all at least once.<br>

Epoxy glue.</p>

we are both correct.If you look closely at the first picture in the OP's question,he has an early series Paterson tank.<br>

The inner section is meant to be bonded to the top. In the later series you illustrate,the two parts are separate.<br>

My comments apply only to the OP's problem.</p>

<p>Ian and everybody else you are right ! under closer inspection I noticed that there are distinct 'glue' marks between the funnel and the lid. I have 3 of these and they are all broken ?</p>
