I am running Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 6 both of which will open NEF files from the cameras you list. An advantage of the codec pack is that now thumbnails of NEF files will be displayed in File Explorer and Microsoft Photo.

Between the drop in the Yen and the need to clear the F-mount inventory, resulted in some good prices, at least in the States. Also the Bank of Japan finally raised the equivalent of the Fed Funds rate from a negative interest rate back into positive territory for the first time in several years which makes it more expensive to carry inventory.

The 75mm Nikkor on the S2a was one sharp lens. That was a great camera combination sometimes referred to as the "poor man's Hasselblad". I do not think it gave up much, if anything, in image quality to the Hasselblad. Is this a self-portrait?

@Jon Eckman Ah, yes, "Cat TV". You are a brave man to risk an LCD monitor. We use an old 42 inch Panasonic Plasma TV. It is build like a tank. Neither of our two 14+ pound cats has been able to dent it or even scratch the real glass display.

After the owlets fledge, do they nest in the area or do they depart to find other homes? I would assume over the fourteen years most have left if for no other reason than to find sufficient food.

I have not had any problems seeing the images in Dieter's posts. It could be simply timing - when you looked, the site was down.

Agreed, if the Original Poster wanted remaining space. But the Original Poster's question was: He specifically asked for exposures taken not exposures remaining. I believe he was trying to estimate the time it would take him to post process the images he was taking and adjust his shooting appropriately to give him time post process after the shoot. Although I am not specifically answering the question either since my solution requires pressing the REVIEW button and not just glancing at the control panel. I also assume that for two cards, both have been formatted at the same time. Since I always format the cards in the camera, it takes only a few seconds more to format the second card after the first. Of course the D750 does not have the secure format feature that I understand the Z cameras have which very probably takes longer to execute. My answer also does not take video into consideration. On the D750, a video is counted as one image. If I have 4 still images on the card, then take a video, and finally another still image, the last still image would have a 6/6 count; the video would be 5/6. Of course videos will take longer to post process than a still image, and my method does not differentiate.

Not on my D750. I always format my cards in the camera after I upload the images to my computer and back them up. Last night I tested before I posted. I took two shots. They were labeled 2/2 and 1/2; the number starts at 1. I know I have taken many more than 2 images since I have owned the camera. 😉 No, the number cannot start at zero. Zero would mean there are no images on the card which gives a message that the folder is empty when you try to review the images. If you are using the cards in Backup mode (which is the way I use my cards), the number of images on each card would be the same; the numbers would be the same. If you are using the cards in Overflow, I suspect the numbers would reflect the total number of images taken on the two cards, although I have never tried this. If you are using the cards as RAW in slot 1 and JPEG in slot 2, I suspect the number k would reflect the number of RAW images. If you fill the RAW card and inset a new card in slot 1 and retain the old card for JPEG in slot two. I suspect the numbers would reflect only the RAW image count, but have never tried it.

I cannot write about the Z cameras, but on my D750 when I review the images on the rear LCD, the number of the image is shown in the upper right hand corner as n/k, where n is the number of the image I am looking at and k is the number images on the card.

The fact that recent firmware updates for cameras show that the hardware is capable of supporting more functionality, I wonder when camera makers will shift and begin to charge for function upgrades but hopefully continue to provide fixes free of charge? Or even sell a hardware package with a basic system and allow you to purchase upgrades to the next higher model as a firmware upgrade. Hopefully they will not shift to a subscription model.

When I was looking for a long telephoto lens for my D750, I was able to try several lens when a camera store had a day at the Sacramento Zoo. All the major manufacturers were there with their products. I could borrow whatever I wanted to try. I tested the Nikon 200-500, the Nikon 500PF, and the Tamron 150-600 G2 as well as some 24-70 lenses. I bought the Tamron 150-600 a year later. The Nikon 200-500 was nice, but heavier, by over half a pound than the Tamron, and the focus was slightly slower than the Tamron or the Nikon 500 PF. The focal length was shorter than the Tamron both at the short and long ends. The 500 PF is a beautiful lens. It is sharp. But, there is always a but, it is a prime. While I was testing it, I found it was too long for several shots I wanted, shots I was able to take with the 200-500 or the 150-600. It is also $3600 (US), over twice the price of either the 200-500 or the 150-600. If you have a camera that carries Tamron near by, try the weight and see how it feels. If it is not too heavy, I think it would make a good replacement for the 200-500.
