I'm not normally much for bird pictures (I appreciate, but I don't tend to take them) but this one was too good. My neighbor is an avid hunter and left last night to go turkey hunting. Looks like he should have stayed home as this fella rolled through our yards this morning and right up onto his deck. I grabbed my 5D II (too bad I loaned out my 7D), 2x extender, and 70-200mm lens and off I went.

I had the opportunity to shoot some store photos for a website for an upscale local lamp shop here in South Bend, IN. The shop is very compact (OK, bordering on cluttered) with lamps in every nook and cranny, I liked this view mainly because of all of the color.

00aOmw-466879684.jpg.a0a3f313c294878e4e295aba0df7bffc.jpg

An interesting contraption--taking photos and/or videos at the soccer fields. My son, who was playing goalie at the time, was more interested in this "UFO" than the ball coming towards his net.

00aOnZ-466895684.jpg.ee9da7ab820198e1849352174c4f544d.jpg

The ski lifts may have stopped, but there's still lots of ski touring to be done in the Canadian Rockies. My uptrack is bottom right of center. My descent took me roughly the same way - lots of turns!

Pano from my high point on Monday. Chickadee Valley, Kootenay National Park. 7 shots with Sigma 10-20/4-5.6 on a 400D, stitched in PS CS5.5. To enlarge in firefox, right-click and select View Image.

Yarn bombing is a type of street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fiber rather than paint or chalk.

There is currently a nice display of yarn bombing at the Seattle Center, near the Northwest Rooms. Here is one of the closeup shots I took of the project.

00aOpv-466945584.jpg.0fae58dfe533d18f80113f3470e912b0.jpg

There are lots of good photos this week, as usual. This is a maple seed (helicopter as my kids call them) starting to break down. I thought the pattern was interesting on the dark mulch. I also was practicing using the 10x live view to manually focus. I can see where the better LCD on the T_i Rebel series would be helpful for this, along with a sturdier tripod and head.

First time poster here. This photo was (clearly) inadvertent - I was in the grass attempting to take family photos when my dog Guinness decided that he would like a portrait done.

"Greek Stew" - spicy garbanzos with chicken, tomatoes, brown rice. SUPER tasty -- a comfort food of mine. Has feta cheese added in the end. (the pinot grigio is screw top too - there is a new Off Topic thread about this)
