    Lampe Berger

Hi Gary, intriguing shot of this object (is it a part of a technical appliance?). I like the square crop and the greenish coloring. The burnt highlights (although they aren't disturbing in this photo) from the flash could be modified by using a flash diffuser of some sort. Great work. Kind regards, Vincent
  2. Hi Dana, the color contrast and the textures of the hills against the sky are of a breathtaking beauty. Maybe the sky could be cropped a bit to enhance the wideness of this view. Kind regards, Vincent

    shades of red

Hi G & V, wonderful autumn scene, with lots of details (like the bare tree) and natural colors to enjoy over and over. Kind regards, Vincent
  4. Hi G & V, thanks for your concern about my headache, but I made this photo 8 years ago, so it should be over by now. Funny your area looks similar; in what part of the US do you live? Kind regards, Vincent

    Devil's Club & Ferns

Hi Jane, a colorful yet soothing 'little landscape'. I quite like this kind of exploration of small places in nature. The fallen tree with moss on it adds something special to the composition and counterbalances the green ash leaves on the right. Kind regards, Vincent
  6. Hi Jane, I'm glad I looked at your photos; a very interesting portfolio. This frosty leaf in the grass shows your 'seeing' skills, one of the most important qualities for a nature photographer. Have you considered to make a square crop of this image? That would be interesting.Kind regards, Vincent

    Morning Sun Hoverfly

Hi Jane, the beautiful light makes the colors, lines and patterns in the leaf -and the hoverfly of course- stand out. Very well composed image. Kind regards, Vincent
  8. Hi Jane, I like the near-abstraction of this photo. The reflections coming from the fish add depth to this image. Kind regards, Vincent
  9. Hi Jane, great clarity and color! The combination with the pink in the background works well too. Kind regards, Vincent
  10. Hi Jane, looking at your photos one of the first things I noticed is the clarity of your underwater shots; other photos I've seen seem to have more of a color cast and aren't as sharp as yours. That certainly goes for this one, which has an appealing combination of colors as well. Do/did you dive yourself or did you make the photos through the glass of an aquarium? Kind regards, Vincent

    Dark tulip

Hi Jane, thank you for your comments and appreciation! I wanted to make a different flower photo and this tulip was a suitable subject. Kind regards, Vincent

    Pizza da Vinci

Hi Franz, nice signs and funny indeed to see a pizzeria ('restaurant') called after Leonardo. Appealing colors and color contrast, background sufficiently OoF. Could use some minor tweaks (horizon correction and a minimal crop off the right side), but well and recorded. Paul's remark is also very funny. Kind regards, Vincent
  13. I had a terrible headache that day, but the scenery was nice enough to set my gear up. Shot on a Canon EOS 5D Mk II with a Canon EF 50 mm 1.8 lens, ISO 160, 1/20 sec, f 8.0.

    Rainy autumn road

On a dark October day near Durbuy, south Belgium. Shot on a tripod with a Canon EF 50 mm 1.8 II lens.

    Thistle flower

Hi Radu, thanks for your additions. The lower quality of the images and the inability to zoom in are some of my major complaints about this site. You're right, many great members (e.g. like Tatiana and Jack McRitchie) left before the transition. As you are implying, we will see what happens in the near future and decide if we stay or leave and post our photos on another platform. That would be a waste of all the effort we put in to comment on photos, but, like you, I'm not satisfied with the direction the new site is going in. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Janegnass (is your name Jan?), thank you for viewing my photos and commenting, much appreciated! I'll make sure to check your work too. Kind regards, Vincent

    Autumn

Hi Evgeni, Glad to see one of your masterful landscapes again! Kind regards, Vincent
  20. Hi Gregory & Verena, Another wonderful landscape with a view through the dark trucks into the light. As well as I can judge it on my phone (which is not so great as photo viewer) it looks very well exposed. Are landscapes your new 'main subject'? Kind regards, Vincent

    sailing

Hi Wayne, As you know I figured that out already; I must add this seascape has your artful signature written all over it. I like it a lot. It reminds me of paintings in our living room when I was growing up as well. Kind regards, Vincent
  22. Hi Gianluigi, Great composition and well toned Black & White conversion. Kind regards, Vincent

    A Better Flytrap

Hi Michael, It would be nice if you would respond to comments, in any case the more thoughtfully written ones. As you know I really like a lot of your photos, but I decided recently that my enjoyment of photo.net comes mainly from interaction with the photographers I write my comments for, as everything else in the 'new' site is going, in my opinion at least, in the wrong direction. You can also sent me a private message, preferably with your e-mail address in it. I have the feeling you don't want your opinion out in the open. Kind regards, Vincent .
  24. Hi Patrick, An abstracted photo with a strong composition. The conversion to B & W and the editing make the image look like graphical work. I like it, although the title eludes me. Kind regards, Vincent
