Hi Gary, a very appealing autumn image, with a well chosen not too common composition and intense colors (slight exposure or editing?), I like it. Kind regards, Vincent

    Hawthorn

Hi G & V, Thanks for your input on this, much appreciated! Different varieties are common in plants and their fruits, especially with so much distance between them. I will look into the berries of which I posted a photo, I've become curious and I hope they are edible and good for making tea as well. I'll let you (and Arthur) know. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Franz, Hadn't seen this very stylish and elegant image until now; it's very nice, I like it a lot. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Arthur, Thanks again! Who knows what could happen if I were to make tea with the other ones! Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Arthur, thanks! These aren't different stages (in which their color changes)? Kind regards, Vincent

Hi G & V, lately I've seen some landscape photos of yours, and I like the somewhat muted colors and the two lines in the bottom half of the photo of this one. The clouds add some perspective too. Nice! Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Arthur and G & V, are these hawthorn berries?

Hi G & V, Thanks for your appreciative comments! It would be nice if you posted some of your hawthorn berry photos; then I can rest assured I'll make tea (see Arthur's comment) with the right berries. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Arthur, thank you for your nice comments. I will certainly go and pick some berries; I have to check online how that tea is made, I'll let you know! Kind regards, Vincent
  10. Hi Kamala, an intriguing view of this waterfall, with autumn leaves giving it some color. I like the movement in the water and the chosen perspective. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Franz, I don't know what species this is, but the patterns on its scales are amazing. Did you take this photo in a zoo aquarium or do you have your own? Kind regards, Vincent

The backlit flowers and leaves looked very appealing. The hawthorn blooms just before summer. In autumn, it carries red berries. The long focal length created a blurry background with bokeh balls. Your comments are very welcome.

    Hawthorn

These hawthorn flowers were a few meters away, so I used a tele lens on a monopod. Shot with a Canon EF 400 mm 5.6 lens on a Canon EOS 550D camera. ISO 800, 1/1250 sec, f 8

Hi G & V, I just posted a reply, but it wasn't getting through. I had to use a captcha to submit, but it didn't work again. I hope you keep those flower photos coming; the 'new' site doesn't make me happy at all. Kind regards, Vincent

    still bloomin'

Hi Gregory & Verena, despite the change in your account name (I liked Gregory and Verena better), I saw this was yours immediately. A wonderful close-up of this dahlia on which the edges of the petals stand out. I noticed the beetle not right away, but it's a nice extra. Kind regards, Vincent

    water

Hi Franz, nice abstract! I like the patterns on the water surface and the well chosen colors. I've had some trouble finding my way in the new site; not everything seems logical, there is a cap on file size (photos are max 1600 x 1200). But I'm glad I can get to the site and photos. Kind regards, Vincent

    Country Road

Hi Michael, this photo looks like a pointillist painting, although the effect you've used has edges around the details instead of the blotches in paintings. I like the sunny scene and the bright colors, reminiscent of late spring and summer. There is a lot of foreground, so I suggest cropping that a bit. I'm always surprised by the versatility of your images. Great work. Kind regards, Vincent
  18. Hi Michael, the mixed yellowy orange colored layers of in-and-out-of-focus, pixelation and posterization (on the narcissus) turn this abstract into a document of time passing us by. Nice work! Kind regards, Vincent

H G & V, that's quite an appealing splash of orange in this image! What kind of flower is it? Kind regards, Vincent

    Mainstream

Hi Paul, a mesmerizing density in this school of fish! Given the limited color palette I would suggest a smaller crop to remove every possible distraction. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi ZT, interesting composition and colors! The arm adds some mystery. This looks like shot through a window with a pattern on it. Kind regards, Vincent
  22. Hi Michael, what lengths you go to to get an original aerial view of this statue and Liberty Island! You can easily see the giant size of it. Were you in a helicopter? Kind regards, Vincent

    miracle stone

Hi Franz, at first glance I didn't think much of this thumbnail. But the lack of color, the interesting stripes on the stone and the patterns make it a fine photo. Kind regards, Vincent

Hi Timo, wonderful autumn bokeh with your trusted Pentax FA 50mm f1.4 ! I can only repeat the words of Franz and Giangiorgio. Into my favorites! Kind regards, Vincent
