  1. Completely agree with the above. A stunning and very powerful image. It feels Dickensian to me.

    CARnivore

Great shot. Strange composition and point of view, but works so well. Would not have thought of it. I like the processing. Nom nom

    FACE IN COLOUR

A Modern Shiva! Nice shot, hope your camera stayed clean

Fantastic image. Lovely texture. Great colours. Superb

    schönwalde

I think it is an interesting shot with good colour and texture. It could have been improved had you had a tripod and wereable to use a smaller aperture and lower iso. None the less, ou have handled the light well.
  6. Excellent. Like a Japanese garden. The white water even looks a little like a dragon's head, as seen from above! Lovely saturation in the foreground plants, and a great balance to the image.

    Monument Valley

Dramatic indeed. The red filter high contrast processing works really well here. This is an interesting take on an often photographed location.
  8. This is a really beautiful pregnancy shot. Lovely low key lighting that perfectly highlights her fantastic curves. I can just see a bit of her throat/neck top left. As it is so indistinct, it is a little distracting, if that is not a sort of oxymoron! Great shot, I'm sure she was very proud.

    Haunting

Well, it works for me. This shot has a spiritual feel to it, almost as though she is rising up to heaven. It is a slight shame about the light falloff on her legs, but in a way it supports the rising into the light interpretation! Great shot, thanks.

Gatherings indeed. Birds, clouds and mastic light. I'd like to gather myself together and go there myself. Really cool, really dynamic high contrast landscape. Thanks.

Another great shot, the high contrast works really well here. Pensive, yet edgy. Thanks.

Great shot. You've controlled the light excellently and I love the frame within the frame. The reflection is a nice touch as well, however it slightly unbalances the photo for me, I'd perhaps loose a slither from the left edge of the frame. Really cool work, thanks

I agree! Very dynamic and an interesting concept. I love the lighting and the split mood. Great studio shot.

    White peacock

    an explosion, an apparition. Impressive
  15. Alf, I like this image very much indeed. The composition is perfect with the central copse of trees dominating the attention and others receding into the mist. I like the fact that we can make some houses out, all be it very indistinctly. It adds something to the image, a narrative element, a sort of voyeuristic quality. I like the reeds very much, and they kind of add to the narrative angle (for me), as I can easily imagine them as my own eyelashes as I gaze upon this morning scene through half closed eyes. The mist and the subtle toning (?) of elements of this shot help create a slightly surreal, dreamlike mood that also supports my interpretation. The vignetting is ok I suppose and kind of adds to the mood, but I don't like the darker band of sky along the top edge. I don't know if you've added a gradient here or not, but I would have expected the mist to be evenly lit. But perhaps I'm wrong! Artistically, I think a fade to white (or the toned colour) would have been perhaps preferable, at least for me anyway as it could have helped further support my interpretation of the image. I guess the darker band feels a little constricting, less ethereal. But, very small points and just one way, my way, of experiencing this really lovely image. I could sit on that bank in contemplation for a very long time! Thanks.
  16. Stunning. Lovely bold colours and a perfectly considered composition. All the lines and angles work so well together. I love this
  17. I think this is a great shot. I love the central placement of the man, his pose and the background. I like the back illumination and the conversion is well handled. I'm slightly distracted by the white area bottom left (not his bottom!) and the violin, which I'm sure is integral to the story, is a little lost, has visually a limited significance. Other than that, a really great shot. Thanks

    The Anemone Hepatica

You've done really well to get all four flowers on the same focal plane, especially with such a narrow dept of field. The out of focus areas look silky smooth, but manipulated? Black and white is a good choice for this shot as there is enough interesting tonal variations on the flowers, however this shot looks subtly tinted to me. Or have my eyes finally packed up? Either way, nice result

    Just beat it

I can see what this is, but it makes me think of witches and cauldrons, the stirring of potions and invocation of spells. High contrast low definition fun. I like it
  20. That was my first thought as well. Or perhaps an illustration from a book of fairy tales, black sun included! Really nice abstract, well found!
  21. A pleasant sunrise scene that is suitably evocative of the calm and stillness of morning. The colours are lovely, and the lone seagull makes the shot. I don't like the central Horizon in this shot though, not cause I'm a pedant, just don't feel it works for this photo. Too much empty space bottom of frame. You went the pano route with this crop, I wander if you went far enough? Thanks

Fantastic photo, just perfect. A magic shot of a magic mushroom! Sehr schön, danke!

    Lake District

How Refreshing that the Artist has Not attempted to mess with the Sky in an attempt to add drama. I actually like the pure white sky, it Kind of grounds and focuses the photo. These were my thoughts Before i read the above comments, Not simply trying to be contrary!
  24. Compositionally this is really superb, as is the stunning depth of field. You've handled the contrast in light very well and I love the upper portion of this shot I'm not a fan of the seemingly overly saturated colours. There seems to be an issue with the blues/purples, particularly in the water surrounding the stone and on the sycamore leaves in the foreground. It appears a little unnatural.
  25. Night shots in colour are so hard to get right, at least i find them so. i always want the blue cast to be more representative of night, but without going black and white that can almost never be so. I knew this what a night shot before I saw the title, and think it is really well done. Evocative. I had thought however, that this was early morning, as it looks like first light in the lower left horizon! Great shot, thanks.
