  1. I bought a model II from a dealer and everything seemed good. But, alas, I didn't look through the vf until a year later, and it was filthy. So much dirt that I couldnt see to frame or focus. How could this happen? Would this be an expensive repair?

I once owned a II that gave great results but eventually jammed. BTW, I had that 1.7x attachment, but the results were poor.

right now I use a Contaflex IV. Everything is lovely: it handles like a REAL.camera and the lens is excellent. The only negative is that the focusing is very stiff.

  2. I don't want to stand on the street arguing the law with someone, just delete.

I agree with you on this. If anyone is upset enough to confront me, I delete the shot as they watch. If I decide later that I simply must have the shot, I can restore it using free software.

I once shot a picture of a lady's dog. She came over and asked if I were shooting this for an advertisement!

  3. This is a portrait of Charlie Chaplin's second wife. She was 17 at the time. It was okay "back then," but would now make some people uncomfortable. Cute kid, but really...

  4. Great shot, Royall. Tri-X (whether vintage, middle aged like 80's, or latest version) has a classic look that I like. Much less grain with current version, but still nice. Back in the 80's my dad and I shared a bulk loader, usually with Tri-X and sometimes Plus-X. Always processed in D-76 1:1. I have a Rokkor MD 135mm f 3.5 and I agree it is a good performer. Minolta also sold one in Celtic trim (slightly less sophisticated coating and exterior) that sold with kits which included the SRT 200 with f 2 lens and small flash plus bag.

Mike, my favorite of the Minolta lenses is the 85mm f2.0 MD. It renders color with uncanny beauty, quite aside from being sharp. Just having that lens on a camera gives me a thrill.
