    selfportrait

Self-portraiture is quite hard to begin with. Although I like the image I tend to think you are not seen enough to find it satisfying as a self portrait. If you wanted to be seen with your camera I would have preferred a side view.

    Spathifyllum

Excellent shot that looks somewhat blurry on my monitor. If this was intended it's not working well for me. Everything else looks perfect IMHO.

    gate

    Very nice and storytelling.

    DSC01637-2

Lovely view. I love the lights, reflections on the water, church and people on the promenade. I miss seeing more of the right side of the river, though (another promenade probably).

    black skimmer 2

I don't know how I missed this beautiful image. Very skillful composition and timing with the birds.

    Camel rocks

Good view. I'm not too convinced about the yellow-white cloud on top of the rocks but everything else falls into place and as I said it's a good view anyway.

    Jasmijn

    A quite effective nude, Jan.

Interesting abstract. I think it's quite original.

Hey, good take at the pony!

    August Rain at Dusk

The image is full of poetry, although I'm not too keen in the long rays of light from the first car and semaphores, they seem to move somehow or show camera shake at first. On another subject, how did you manage to get so much light from the semaphores and cars? I tried recently late evening shots and what seemed bright lights to my eye were only tiny lights on the photograph.

    Gather of Lilies

    Very beautiful Katherine.

    Very effective image, as usual.

    Common Blue

Excellent shot, even with the butterfly downplant :)
  14. Yes, the house has its charm. A pity the motorcycle is only seen partially. Seeing so little seems like an alien element to the image. Would have rather seen it as a whole and become part of it or nothing at all (quite hard with this right angle I reckon). Also I'm not too keen on the flags reaching the house, but after some time it also looks like a natural element of the street.

    Standup Comedy for Hummingbirds

A one in a million take. I find it hard to discern what I'm seeing at its head, though, especially the pink spots.

    Thanks for the explanation Bela.
  17. Probably Michael. I find with people on landscapes there are two kinds of people, those who think they add and those who prefer bare nature and/or buildings. I just happen to be one of the latter ;)

Can't you disable the light? In my old film Canon you could. The new (digital) doesn't have light by default, so I can't tell.

I am astonished at the many little gems in your portfolio. I particularly like this one. Very pleasing colours and effective perspective with the fences, road and house in the end. If the colours were as is in the scene you really come across incredible views. On another subject, I am surprised at reading your technical details. Was it really shot at 200mm? :)

While I see what you are trying to capture, I think timing is far from perfect and your subject doesn't come across well with just the image. Sorry to sound so critical.

    hat with mushrooms

I find the crop too tight and would have liked to see the whole mushrooms and more of the hat containing them. B/W works well.

Excellent, John. Well seen and captured.

Well seen shot. The cigarette contributes very well to the feeling and I like the rose which adds elegance, although its position is not the best and feels a bit awkward. I wasn't keen on her glance on the thumbnail since she seemed to object you taking the photo but this impression is not here in the full size image. It's a good portrait, with a mysterious feel to it.

Well seen classy shot. Reminds me of Blade Runner.

Maria, what you are portraying here is the hall, not the exhibition. Also there is motion in the shot which is a pity because DOF seemed right and the view was also quite right.
