Hi Ruud, that 135mm lens is awesome.
Another super story telling image!

Hi Herman, thanks for your input.
I'm sure you are right about the man walking away, there was nobody else involved with this couple, they were totally wrapped up with each other.
Here was an intense moment, why is a mystery but if you can feel the emotion then an explaination is prehaps not needed.
The power of media........
Thanks for stopping by Herman, hope you are in good health.
Regards
Gareth.

Hi Mike
I LOVE this lens. It is worth the money thats for damn sure even if it is big and heavy.
I need more practice with it though, got a big shoot next weekend and after that I'm shooting all the images for my daughter's school's new website.
So much for photography being just a hobby.
Kind regards to Betsy and yourself

Hi Mike, thank you for the compliments my friend.
I had just serviced and sharpened this machine and then thought about an image. The result is just about what I was after, something a little bit different.

Hi Mike, thanks for that. I've added a B/W version too.
I set out today with a bright overcast sky, but within 20 mins the sun came out and the light was totally different. So I went chasing shadows!

Hi Benjamin
thanks for the comments, your DoF issue is an interesting one. Subject distance was approx 8 metres, focal length 77mm and aperture was f3.2. By my calculations total DoF should be about 1.4 metre so yes I would expect the man walking away to be more out of focus. I guess the bokeh on the nikkor AF-S 70-200 f2.8G ii ED is not that good.
The people in the background are however for me part of the image. This couple were so involved while all round them people went about their lives. They could have moved to the side and be more private but rather chose to stay in the centre of the street not caring who could see them.
I will be looking onto the bokeh expectations of my new lens!!
Thanks for stopping by
Best regards
Gareth.

I'm not exactly sure what the story is here so I will leave the image
open to your own interpretation..
Thank you for viewing larger.

It all seems such a long time ago. There was so much to look forward to in 2012, all there is this year is a royal birth and maybe some warmer weather!

Hi Gail, I'm with you, I like the original.
It is hard to even think about the beach and sand castles unless you are wearing a coat, hat, gloves, scarf etc...
We are still waiting for spring to get started here in the UK.
Warm regards

Thank you for taking the time for a v2 edit, I think you have made the snow too bright though. The shot was taken on a fairly dull day.

Hi Mike and Gail.
Many thanks Mike for your comments, indeed the exif shows f1, this is a P.net issue that has happened before and I don't always remember to check to see if it is right.
Gail, as Mike rightly points out the lighting is from a sodium street light, and the reflection off the snow makes it appear brighter than normal. I have a print of this and it is a lot more 'orange' in colour, maybe I need to check my printer settings.
All the snow has gone now but it is still bitterly cold outside for this time of year.
Kind regards to you both
Gareth.

Your version shows some differences, although I am not entirely sure how you made the changes. My photoshop skills are somewhat limited.
Thanks for your time and input

This kind of thing makes me laugh...
Take the shot, look later, if it's good.....then share it.

Nice one Alf, that takes care of the concerns then.

A contrast and then some! Very well spotted.
That guy really needs to eat something.

Hi Rakesh
Thanks for the comment.

Hi Mike
I was certainly lucky to get a break in the clouds on what was a very miserable day. Again I'm confused as to why the exif is wrong, it is a pnet issue I think.
Anyway, thanks for looking and the compliments.
Best regards
Gareth.
