I'm not exactly sure what the story is here so I will leave the image

open to your own interpretation..

Thank you for viewing larger.

Hi Gareth,

I like the overall clarity displayed from this image.

The BW presentation sets the mood, no matter what the story really is .

Well shot my friend.

Best Regards, Mike

A very nice capture. I think you timed it perfectly. I do however feel that this would have been even better if you had shot this with a larger aperture to reduce depth of field. The man on the right walking away is a little distracting and if everything else other than the couple were blurred out that might be better.

Hi Benjamin

thanks for the comments, your DoF issue is an interesting one. Subject distance was approx 8 metres, focal length 77mm and aperture was f3.2. By my calculations total DoF should be about 1.4 metre so yes I would expect the man walking away to be more out of focus. I guess the bokeh on the nikkor AF-S 70-200 f2.8G ii ED  is not that good.

The people in the background are however for me part of the image. This couple were so involved while all round them people went about their lives. They could have moved to the side and be more private but rather chose to stay in the centre of the street not caring who could see them.

I will be looking onto the bokeh expectations of my new lens!!

Thanks for stopping by

Best regards

Gareth.

Gareth,

Street photography is wonderful and inspiring, every aspect of life passes by just for those who have an open eye. You have seen well, and whatever the grief or disappointment is, she is consoled. The man walking away is a discussion, on the other hand the question might arise whether he is involved in the story you tell. Actuallly I don't think so. He doesn't disturb me very much, and I do appreciate the image the way it is.

Kind regards,

Herman

Hi Herman, thanks for your input.

I'm sure you are right about the man walking away, there was nobody else involved with this couple, they were totally wrapped up with each other.

Here was an intense moment, why is a mystery but if you can feel the emotion then an explaination is prehaps not needed.

The power of media........

Thanks for stopping by Herman, hope you are in good health.

Regards

Gareth.
