  1. i have even, wow,, had recourse lately to books I have not really read closely. On my desk is "Matters of Light and Depth by Ross Lowell. Still enjoy the feel, smell and crisp feel of books. I check in out of well carved routine mostly. As to the other place, the one owned by Amazon, it depresses. Clever over kind is not a custom I can admire and that is the redwood chip on the shoulder that end conversation. On line that is. Facebook special interest groups are a source of shared info sometimes. But you pays your money and takes your pick of advice.
  2. I wish the battery life was longer, but then I always wish that. As to quality of images and sharpness, that gets into lenses as well. I typically have the 12-35 mounted and when I want to just shoot something for the heck of it, I rarely have any quibbles over quality right out of the camera. I am not fussy, A JPEG suffices for me so I make not pretense of being a sharp eyed viewer. I do not use glasses on the GX 8 and could not live without the EVF. I bought the Lumix larger add on rubber surround. The GX 8 uses the same battery as the older GH 2 so I now have about five batteries. They all get a workout. Batteries have a shelf live too..the new G 9 alleges some power saving features. That is overdue.
  3. 'If I like a you and you like a me and we like a both the same..'.. . Someone actually aought to know difference between like and admire. Easy. Admire is like ' fancy.' aa in I wouls fancy a hot toddy about now. Like , ah ,is more serious and can lead to trouble such as matrimony .. This one has to be subject for the philosophers.
  4. In the mirrorless realm the two big micro four thirds players have managed to up their game each year. And yes, I know that they are always beset by the big Sony line and their innovations. I have both the Olympus EM-1 and grip which delivers a lot and fulfills the need to use all those phase detect lenses, some of them never equallted in quality in micro four thirds. But I got a used but perfect GX 8 and it has won first place in my bag. Why? Two things stand out. The viewfinder is pure bliss. Second, Panasonic has a rational menu system, maybe as good as we can find in mirrorless. And a rational layout. And just when we figured they are gonna rest on their laurels and such, they are coming out with a new and old design of MILC the G 9. I now will not consider any but the beautiful OLED finder with fast refresh and customability. So henceforth I am a Lumix person. With a soft spot for Olympus. Such a cornucipia we got. Quibbles? None from where i set. I think the die is cast on articulated LCD and that suits fine as well.... Lumix contrast focus is a speed demon IMO.... Feature sets are getting so complex, I guess Moores Law has to be satisfied and they need something to add to the programming.....how is your experience. Still happy with your smallish micro four thirds, And the Big Beast they called the GX 8 ( most underrated show stealer yet)

  6. To add a small piece of info from my recent acquaintance withe the Plus X Pocket Wizards. They have a limitation when used as a camera trigger. Namely that you do not get a two step focus first button press. Which I see as problematic and which is outlined as such in the company FAQ. They even suggest manual focus...which is not so groovy in my opinion. I will continue to use the simple enough Vello radio trigger to the camera remote. And PW Plus Xs for flash control only. There is a three PW relay mode that will do both. But again, no prefocus step and then release. I prefer to know the camera has focused and can be sure of that part. Otherewise I endorse the PW simple Plus X model as a fair price item to do what it does.

I think you did well. It is hard to divorce from the roman numeral tattoo. It intrigues but also detracts. She is wholesome enough with out skin art...but I can see that is judgmental yet one gets a critique which is not judgmental is elusive. I am sure that for some it adds to her character. But how, beats me. I wish you well. I like the warm glow a lot. Ah youth. For myself I would clone out the long tattoo and not blink and eye for doing it. Lovely simple study portrait. Casual and engaging.

Captivating. If anything is a deficit it is the line of the headboard/sofa back whatever that cleaves the body so sublime and graceful. This is a rare model who holds herself in such a splendid way. Light and elfin with a touch of the sensual as well. Reminds me of Audrey Hepburn and Leslie Caron in a way..that slender dancer grace and ingenue quality that shines out as from a stage.
  10. A good eye. It may only be appreciated by photographers who trod the byways of a city. I like the angle and the choices you made. Including the tree trunk on the left against the buildings in the distance. A nook in the big city. Frederic Law Olmsted would approve. Big time.
  11. I will try those PT. Nice to have asset of many minds to work stuff out. Mahalo.
  12. Thanks all, confirms what I observed. Which is that once you select size then the edit function in the NW is non negotiable. So you got to plan A hea d..
  13. I have lately been interested in posting to the No Words Forum. Which ought to be a no brainer no problem place, nay> And I am not quite getting the route to editing a photo to just add a brief caption once the image has been posted. Sometimes I feel I am walking on a Moebius Strip. I wonder if the choices are too sophisticated for me. I mention this because I finally, if I am so moved, just delete image and repost with the few brief words I like to assign to the photo. No Words sometimes gets enhanced with a couple words to say what where or with what lens. I throw this out to see what I may be missing. It gets to the navigation question. That is , make it hard and one will just say forgetabout it.

Reminds me of a work by Helmut Newton. Suggestive of the motion captured as slice of life.

A well done tableau. Has the look of a simulation but a well done one. I am mixed about the value of the vignette, though I know you are partial to the effect. In this case, I would like to see the full frame and see which way I would go. My impressions for what they may be worth. A well fed, well scrubbed patrol and I h ope they get the belt loaded right. Best wishes, Line.
