Very nice, the light above and behind bright and the sky ahead dark and foreboding, just about matching the sand

Usually people take this sort of picture and soften it up to make it more pastoral. I like the hardness of the stone coming through.

I was saying it was undersaturated. :)
To each his own. but it IS incredibly rich color early in the morning.

"where were you last night?!?!?!?!? Is that a blue heron feather on your collar?"
There's a story there somewhere. very nice!

I was there 10 years ago, plus or minus a few days. Early morning is gorgeous with the shadows. I remember it being much more red though. Maybe a bit richer with blacks or more saturation?

Saw this happening in Athens and grabbed it quickly. It could be a lot of stories...

Yes, I believe her name was Rosie Ruiz. I forget if it was the Boston or NYC marathon, but she took the subway for part of the way
These were taken at around 350-450mm hand held, so I had to pump up the ISO and there is too much noise, but otherwise they would have been blurry -
Thanks! This was pretty much the end of the marathon. Last year I did the faster folks at the beginning. These are the ones that were mostly walking at the 17 mile mark where I live. A few minutes later they started taking down the roadblocks

Rich colors and lighting, especially the canopy in the back
The light at left might be too overpowering

The tall guy in the wool hat was last year's winner
-
Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya running in green on the right was the winner. 3 minutes better than the previous record.
-
Thanks! I haven't been on in a while.

Like the tile work in the foreground. I should show it to my neighbors at the st kits and Nevis mission to the un, a few doors down the block
-
thanks for all the comments.
What I liked about this one was that even though it's one body of water, it looks like there is a dam holding back the water on the right. One of those Escher prints came to mind when I saw it.

Yes, I was standing on something and shooting down slightly as i recall, which made the distortion a bit extreme. It's a 10mm lens, so it's to be expected.

Thanks! This was an experiment that turned out well, although I want to revisit them and do a bit better. All the pics in this album were done in HDR, five exposures at .7 stop variations, and the Sigma 10-20mm lens. And yes, I am known for my slides of sunsets with horizons that are never quite straight :)

I tend to oversaturate "slightly", since my first photos were Kodachrome slides

Yes, I've seen him many times. He is a regular of (at least) the Coney Island Mermaid parade, the West Indies Day parade, and the Pride March. Always with the parrot and poodle, dyed to match :)

Composition is impeccable.Just a classic, timeless image. The big sky reminds me of that classic Americana picture by Feininger(? too lazy to look up) of the Texaco station along the side of the road in the '30s.
the problem i see is that it looks like you set the clarity/contrast/saturation too high, giving it an unnatural look, especially the clouds.
Might be worth starting over with the editing. Less can be more when it comes to postprocessing. It is also a prime candidate for black and white.

Love it. the colors of the fans perfectly match the colors of the grafitti below

Well, I guess i'm outnumbered :)

To be honest, it was an experiment. It was so dark, I couldn't even see their faces when I took it. And no flash either. But I liked it. unfortunately, there is noticeable banding at the bottom of the picture, a known problem with the K5.
