I like this shot. The golden mean, at the intersection point, the plain, smooth grey sky, the completely desolate landscape. Great shot. Where was it taken?

In a wierd sort of way this shot reminds me of those old faked photos of fairies that a couple of kids made and fooled people for years. No fakery here, just a spooky resemblance to fantasy creature. A terrific bug shot (four words that rarely are written by me). You clearly have a skill for putting your models at ease in order to get natural poses. J/k, a great shot.
  1. Terrific idea, visually and thematically. I find myself wishing though that I could see all the way around the bucket, a frame of black. It'd be even more striking if it were the bucket in the middle of a black square. Is this cropped or full-frame?

This is a breat image; it makes it look like she's standing on a background of some kind of billboard. Strong lines and composition, vaguely Andy Warhol-like. Good use of contrast too.

I had to go back and increase my ratings; the more I look at this, the more impressed I get. People try to do 'branchy' shots all the time, but rarely do they turn out at all well> This one stands out because its tack-sharp, interesting trunk, and branches going off at odd angles, kind of perpendicular to each other.

Unusual, and intriguing. I'm not sure I like the frame, and I'm tempted to crop out a bit of the sky, but its a fascinating shot, good use of contrast and line.

I like the lamp a lot--you caught the glow while using fill flash to maintain the details on the metal bits. The tree in the background are very distracting, though--they detract from the subject. Would it have been possible to tilt the camera up a bit (or if you had crouched down) so the background would just be blue sky?

A very nice portrait. Have you tried cropping it to a portrait format? It also appears just a bit too contrasty and bright on my monitor...
  2. Very dramatic shot--the clouds deny the viewer what we want to see (the mountaintop) which produces and interesting effect. It does look just a bit unsharp on my monitor, and slightly greenish, but those are easily remedied.
  3. I love the hypersaturation--it works for this subject. I find myself wishing that he didn't block off so much of that plane--it'd be nice to see just a bit of the cockpit, maybe have him off center to the left a litte. But its a great shot that draws you in (and makes you feel like you're entering a computer game). love the skateboard in foreground.
  4. This is a pretty unique sunset shot. I think that it would benefit from a little cropping--maybe take the bottom 25% or so, and a bit off the right, to balance the lights and darks better and draw more attention to the silhouette. Right now my eye keeps being drawn out to sea, away from the main subject.

I love the contrast between warm and cool colors. Usually, you see these night shots of streets in BW, or w/just warm or just cool colors. Its a great balance, and the exposure--a tricky one here--is just right, holding the detail in the lights and the blueness in the sky. Makes me want to wander down the street.

Here's an idea working with the current crop. First, I did Autolevels, which brightened up the highlights. Then I used the Curves function to create a very slight "s-curve" to increase the contrast. Then History Brush on the arms, which had gotten too light. A little dodging of the highlights in the eyes, and finally Unsharp Mask (.5 pixels, 88 percent, threshold 3). Hope this helps!
