this is a gorgeous and perfectly balanced composition. the visual flow to the delicate little tree is fascinating. something about the overall tonality is keeping it from being perfect, but i can't figure out what. i think perhaps some careful tweaks of the contrast might be worth exploring. cheers.

masterful still life; splendidly arrayed, lit and captured. a brilliant swirl of pleasing and fascinating details. wow!

hey clive--
thank you, sir. you've got a good eye: yes it was the yellow band that was intended to bundle the montage. thanks for checking out my portfolio, your comments are hugely encouraging! cheers.

amazing and wonderful: surreal, tactile, delicate, inventive-- and so on... i might have removed the central person. the balloons and ribbons are luminous and splendid.

it's sedate as far as action or drama, but it's alive with spring and the grandeur of a great city. the tunnel effect makes the viewer want to press forward. the box shape neatly contrived by man's sidewalks and accoutrements is being cleverly "corrupted" by nature above creating swirls and arcs. very attractive. cheers.

hi keith.
thanks for the thoughtful comment. i'm taking under advisement the recommendation about the tail-- i kinda wanted the "line" of the bird to go out of the picture, in other words to connect him solidly with the frame; but i'm not wedded to the idea by any means.
i photographed this warbling vireo in my own colorado backyard last spring, but other than using the photo as a template, the image is entirely "painted"-- his beak was closed in the original. to see the vireo with his tail (and beak) intact, see this earlier version:

thanks again for taking a serious look. cheers to you, sir.

gorgeous capture of an amazing model. he seems to know just how dapper he is. i'd recommend just a leeeeettle bit of saturation (or contrast?) for the low end: to carefully blacken the blacks without losing the throat detail. great shot. cheers.

a gorgeous treatment, a vivid labyrinth of detail and great depth of field. highly evocative: of course o'keefe comes to mind, but also billowing sheets on a clothes line, lofty clouds, or the amazing, grooved corridors of utah's antelope canyon. bravo.

an artistic, compelling and of course, rather disturbing piece. brilliant photoshop work aside, it's impossible not to reflect upon the frank subject, tho the intent of the artist is appropriately somewhat ambiguous. as a long time vegetarian myself, i enjoy the macabre and accusatory aspect of animal eating depicted as grotesque and barbarous. the "meal" is shown as unsavory, tortured, and slightly human-- and thus cannibalistic (toes and fingers)-- pretty much the way i view flesh eating in general. to further mock the idea of our disguising the true nature of our diets, i might have included on the plate something like a sprig of parsley. bravo, yuliya!

lovely and creative piece: the shells make a perfect rich, visually blue-cool, unusual, and textured background. the bursts of color upfront are well distributed, but interestingly the balance pivots on the central flowers and the triple sprig of green to the center right. excellent treatment. bravo.

the folds of pink are as well wrought as fine jewelry-- especially embedded in that soft and subdued emerald background. the heart shaped droplet commands the vortex of the petals very elegantly. sorry i didn't see the other image for comparison, but this one is lovely-- though i'd explore the possibilities of knocking the subject a bit more off-center. overall a regal celebration of the rose. cheers.

an amazing and delicate burst of colors. a splendid discovery and well composed. bravo.

it looks magnificent from what i can see-- it's too small alas to enjoy the finer aspects. great placement of the boats and a good choice to crop out the sky.

gorgeous area, nice capture of the clouds especially. i want to be there when the birds roll in... enticing image certainly.

an image to salute the great gustave baumann, one of my inspirations...

nice and painterly-- just the right amount of texture and drooping blur. good piece. bravo.

thanks paolo: your kind words and affirmation i find very sustaining. cheers. chris

beautiful and thoughtful depiction of a bird in a stark geometric urban habitat. the image conveys at once very well composed bisecting lines, the grit and metaphorical mono-colors of the human landscape, and a note of optimistic adaptation on the part of the clever rook. bravo.
