very artfully done-- suggestive of woodblock printing. excellent blend of detail and soft impressionism.

love it. what a warming glow. nice capture of the turtle as well. splendidly captured.
-
very cute with a strong background too. getting low always helps on pet pics, this guy is a real charmer!
-
why thank you!
-
gorgeous bird and exquisite detail, the palpable water droplets are particularly evocative. the background textures are rich and interesting, however i'd tone down (darken) the slightly distracting lower white spots. excellent!

thank you folks-- you're a great encouragement to me. cheers!

hi kim
so glad you stopped by. (i had to resist the urge to paint a bird into this one). thanks for your comment. see ya!

thanks for your comments, ross and sheryl. i was reminded of this poem:
I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself

your entire chinese portfolio is just amazing. you sought out the old and elegant, and this one-- being one of my favorites-- tells of the most magnificent and alluring patina and exotica that i relish. excellent.

very skillfully done. lovely neo-interpretation of the original photo-secessionist objective.
-
skillfully done, especially the maelstrom of water. it's rather like thomas cole's paintings depicting the passages of life. bravo.
-
good, moody piece. the odd dust-storm-like upper part somehow blends a slightly disquieting feel with what one guesses is a quiet serenity. the foreground is a gentle hogarth sweep that reinforces the focal point. i enjoy it very much.

complex and varied, yet engagingly so: not cluttered. the textures and tiny glimpses of things recognizable amid elements that don't quite "resolve" make it at once pleasing, perplexing and fascinating. bravo.
-
gorgeous pic, and indeed evocative: we can feel the dampness and smell the perfume of the tidal flat.

thanks for commenting folks. i was thinking that this one might benefit from a bit of brightening, but perhaps i'll just leave it-- based on your kind thoughts. cheers.

Wow! how nice seeing your comments this morning! i photographed this loggerhead shrike near where i live in southwest colorado, and typically it was very soft focus with a dull background. so, merging and hand painting brought us to this point. i'm really happy you like the result. cheers-- chris

sweet composition that achieves both asthetic quality and in the viewer elicits pangs of hunger. truly in the pastry shops of france we know that we reside for that moment in the presence of greatness. i like the "venetian gondola" design of the tongs too. good work!

pretty clever. i like the idea, saturated colors and the wide format. the composition seems to be pulling upward, almost like gravity is inverted. nice.

Slaughtered for a car race and a bunch of drunken idiots.

thanks for posting this-- i feel your rage and frustration. it is indeed despicable that a race of this international profile would so unapologetically initiate a pogrom against area wildlife for something so frivolous and blatantly invasive.
