gorgeous piece, this really works as a black and white, which surprises me given that the emphasis on butterfly images is usually the vivid color. there is a keen tautness in the poise of the very handsome model. and i like the balance of the left grass blade perpendicular to the gaze of the little critter. great capture.

thank you adi! cheers and best wishes. chris

certainly one of the more creative bird pics i've seen in ages. i love the vivid colors (the saturation) the motion, the focus in a limited, captivating spot. given the introduction, it compellingly tells a story as well: the bird appears to consider with concern the condition of his flight equipment. thoughtful and sweet shot. bravo.

thanks steven, it was a mock-up for the durango brewing company-- they needed a label for their "blueberry wheat" beer. thanks for looking and commenting, amigo. cheers. chris

rich color and skillful treatment. does this look very much like a maxfield parrish character? the echo of the nose above creates a wave effect-- interesting. the strong 'v' composition is very appealing, as is the little touch of red. a somber subject is somehow made slightly whimsical by the model appearing to smile. nice piece.

what an amazing bird! captured at his best, crimson resplendent, and neatly contrasted with uncluttered pastel soft green background. fitting for a field guide!

who wouldn't enjoy seein' this truck a-coming?

sweet shot with a cunning model. i couldn't resist having a look because this canine recreational pursuit is common with our crew (we have 16 dogs currently). one dog even comes into the thrift store with us and picks out his own stuffed animal, carries it proudly out-- then later invariably shreds it. this shot is sharp and of course, cute and evocative. the background is a bit busy would be my only critical observation. cheers.

amazing. i love it. from moving cars (usually train cars) i saw variations of this shot many times in france but i never got it. i doubt i ever could have captured it this well. breathtakingly rich across the center with the seemingly impressionistic dabs of the nearest barley fading upward. excellent. bravo.

this is a brilliant piece-- everything we love to see in an evocative portrait AND in a rich, deeply textured pencil rendering. bravo.

the blues are splendid with the sandy orange and grey tones. good composition. normally i try to leave the "feet" in-- even if it's just a bench-- but here the diagonal flow is strong as it is. it has a suggestion of a single "filter" being used-- i recommend mixing up the effects a bit to avoid predictability. groovy view. it makes us want to see more. cheers.

nice. very well done. great textures. a couple of technical things: i'd erase the music sheet where it crosses over the flowers to make it clear that it's behind the subject. also i'd remove that tiny red leaf on the lower right that is outside your border. well done and painterly. bravo.

hi amigos-- thanks to both of you for commenting. bobby, i did bump up the saturation a bit when i recently duplicated the image for print, i think you're right. overall, looking at my portfolio, i'm worried that collectively some may look oversaturated so i'm timid about where to draw the line. (if that makes sense)...
thanks for looking, y'all. cheers.

a great picture diminished. the aging effect of the textural treatment has left us with the knobby bumps of the canvas-like paper, but has sandblasted the detail and color of the wonderful subject. the slight glowing impression along the figure is excellent, as is the the curve of the body reinforced by the stone wall, but i respectfully submit that the texture should not (as a vague rule) supersede the wonder and delicacy of the subject.

superb. the flower and vase become animated akin to a disney caricature gazing upon the eggs. the theme is beautifully echoed in the chicken image on the tray. thus, the flowers with their delicate suggestions of eyes and drooping passivity seem to dully wonder at the connection between the image of chicken and the mysterious appearance of eggs. clever, humorous, and splendidly captured. bravo.
