    Portrait...

Dear Katerina, I am just a 'hobby' photographer and absolutely in awe of your portfolio. You have a wonderfully quirky imagination which inbues your photos with a sort of Alice in Wonderland quality. Your lighting technique is excellent as is your Photoshop work. Unfortunately  the P.net ratingsystem sucks, which is the reason I dropped my subscription and don't post any more photos. I chose this photo at random and checked the ratings and was disgusted but not surprised to find this excellent photo with an average of just over 5 which suggests this photo is just slightly above the average photo posted on this site...............a clear travesty!

Don't let the clowns drag you down....you are a brilliant photographer. I'll bet you don't get much in the way of honest critiqueing fom those clowns who bang in 3's automatically, because they have nothing worth contributing!

    Beat wishes FRANK GAFFNEY.

It's a very brave photographer indeed who exposes her/his gear to his kind of weather!
I like this photo because I have been that soldier oh so many times! I bought a family tent some years ago and would you believe that I just had to rattle the string on the bag to start a torrential down pour which would set in for almost two weeks...almost because the Sun invariably split the stones on the drive home. I sometimes thought Mother Nature herself was laughing at us. Anyway, it's a very interesting photo...perhaps not technically perfect but not shot under perfect conditions ....I like it a lot. well done Mircea.

Margo, forget the head and shoulders suggestion.....it does nothing for this photo. The crop to Brannan and the sled works well, I think, but does not improve the photo, which really does need the hand pulling the sled. WELL DONE ONCE AGAIN FOR THIS GREAT IMAGE....FRANK

Dear Margo....fantastic expression as only you can do....and great panning skills... and excellent exposure. Just a suggestion, not a criiticism.....why not try to crop down to just young Bannan and sled the and perhaps just a head and shoulders crop. EXTRAORDINARILY GOOD.....great stuff once again Margo, Best wishes .....FRANK.
  1. Dear Margo, I just love this one...priceless expressions, sharp as a pin and excellent exposure. And it works equally well in black and white. Butttttt! You have chopped off the top of the head of the girl on the left. Naughty Nanny Wade...ten minutes in the bold corner for you ! You will need to watch your framing Margo.....it's perhaps the weakest part of your photo skills.

And on a more subjective note, I feel the composition would be improved had you placed the girls a little more to the right of the frame...there is a sort of left hand bias to he composition which would perhaps be improved in this way. IMHO.

STILL AND ALL I THINK IT'S A STUNNER...WELL DONE MARGO ( isn't it just fantastic being a grandparent...I just love it)

Best regards to the Wade clan,

    GRANDDAD FRANK.

    Too tired to play

Dia Dhuit Margo, nobody does it better than you Margo, another great kidz photo.......although I don't necessarily think this little guy or gal (it's difficult to tell from this particular angle!) will necessarily thank you in the years to come. I have only one technical comment...........is that a touch of 'cradle cap' that I can see?

You could have cloned it out for the little guy, for goodness sakes Margo!

    All the best.

Slan.....FRANK (& Kev the kuz from Auz)

  2. Dia dhuit agus thank you Mario and Giuliano, for taking the time to comment.

Mario, I quite agree with your comment on the contrast of this photo.....one of my worst habits is not knowing when to stop 'fiddling' with my photos , so thank you for pointing this out to me.

    Slan,FRANK.

  3. Dia dhuit Brice, a very nice capture of a difficult subject ...nice sharp image. Is this photo a parody the American economy?.......Going down in glory, with all guns blazing, in a cloud of smoke, sort of thing. It's sure playing havoc with my pension plan. A good lesson perhaps, in how different people can take completely different meanings from the same photo!

    A very nice photo anyway...........

    SLAN....FRANK

  4. Dia dhuit Marie-Therese, thank you for taking the trouble to comment on this photo. I am quite pleased with this one....I was out on my bicycle early one morning and crossing a bridge over the River Liffey when I noticed the light was good and for once I happened to have my camera with me....so I banged off a couple of shots and this was probably the best of them. Lesson No.1....always have camera with you just in case the photo of a lifetime pops up in front of you. SLAN....FRANK.
