Peter, From a technical standpoint the photo is excellant. By this I mean- exposure, white balance, focus (DOF) are all fine. Now to the questions? What are you trying to communicate? Very good documentary photo of the area- Yes. A fine artsitic image? No. Only you will know what you had in mind when you set up the camera here and made the adjustments to get this shot. Should you crop the top more to get rid of all the blue? Not sure. I would guess no since it would change the perspective of distance and size. If you are happy then we should be happy with it. Again we can all see that you know how to use your camera. Creative shot, this one is rather standard. Good Luck!

One of my favorites from a fall trip into West Virginia. Many of the
barns passed along the road were painted with messages from a time
far past. Comments welcome. Thanks

Great capture! You took a familar scene and with the special light given that day make it extra special. Very nice! 6/6

I love it and it would be an easy 7/7 except for the dark spot on the top center left. A cloud? Dust? Hanging Branch? Not sure what is there. Healing brush to the rescue. Clone Stamp for back up. Which ever you can use do it. Ratings will soar! My main point is that the area distracts or call my eye there rather than the sea. Good Luck!

I am sorry somone choose to rate this as a "3" for aesthetics? Not sure what they saw-may be their computer was broke. Very nice and the 'feel' to the photo is great! 6/6

Excellant image! Well done! I wish I was there right now with my camera. 6/6

I love the single leaf- very well done! Only idea would be crop some from right side. Just an idea, you are the owner of the message. 5/6

The ratings for "3" are coming in due to the horizon not being level or straight. One key thing to remember is always keep the camera level to horizon for these shots. Otherwise you are left with a snapshot not a photograph. Also keep your lend free from dust- notice the 2 black marks in the sky. Also leads to low ratings at photo.net. Good Luck and keep trying!

I love my 10-20 wide angle too! What a great image! Congratulations! 6/6

It appears that the weather is about to change! I really like the line and the texture that it creates. Very nice! 6/5.

I really wanted to play with my camera today but the rain came early.
Ideas and comments welcome for improvement...

What happened to the top? My eyes follow the image up and then cut off. The light pole looks abnormally large? The building infront of Sears is either 25 feet tall or the light post is 25ft tall. The 70-300 lens may have been too small of choice here. Sepia is fine or to improve the overall image- clone out Sears Tower? Just some ideas...

Thank you for sharing. I had the pleasure of photographing Bubble Light last May. The rain has finally stopped when my plane landed in Portland and off I went. I believe there was a great ice cream establshment on the road leading to the parking lot here. I am not too sure they were open when you took this. Great image! I wish I could be ferried accross the "gap" to island to get some up close shots. Happy Holidays! 6/6

Oh how I wish that time of year was here again! I love the mountains of NC/TN/VA. Great image. If you can try Grayson Highlands when the blooms are out, very good too. A little more hiking to see but you get the bonus of the ponies. Happy Holidays! 6/6

Very nice! As I like to say you know a 7 when you see it! 7/7 Great Capture!! It stopped me right away!

Overall good! As you post more and ask for ratings, you will scratch your head and wonder why. Could a little more light help? +1 on the exposure may be? A solid 5/5 for you.

Very nice! I can feel like I am standing on the Battery right now! Oh I wish I was there. 6/6

My first capture with new D300. Comments welcome...Sunrise in North
Carolina!

I like it very much but I find myself fixed on the dust spot. Just to the right of the top of the tree. Clone stamp that out and resubmit- my guess is the rating will improve.
