Doug, the great white can't be far behind:) Great shot! You could kick up the saturation and the contrast a bit. Otherwise a wonderful composition. Regards, Bernie

Sundee, This is a wonderful candid, compositionally. Previous poster's suggestions on cropping are good. I don't think you have a real fine focus here though. I've looked at some of your other "seniors" many of which are in better focus. I think you do better when you use a flash fill. F2.8 is a really wide aperture and has a narrow depth of field. Try not to have such a large aperture unless of course it means losing the shot. Regards, Bernie

Raoul, From the thumbnail I thought it was a big beaked bird preening. What a surprise when I opened it to full size. Nice shot. Regards, Bernie

Jana, forgive me if you know this but that is a cleaner fish inside the mouth. There are stations where fish go to have parasites removed. The little guys get in there and do the cleaning, and the host fish does not eat them. If you are diving and open your mouth, they will gladly perform the same service, even will trim the cuticles of your fingernails. Regards, Bernie

Bruno, I have been trying to get such a shot for years. Extraordinary pic.

Matt, this is a D200 with a 17-35 2.8 AF-S in an Ikelite Housing with a dome port and an Ikelite Ds125 flash. It was the first time I took the D200 underwater and what pleased me so much was that the over-under lighting is very difficult. Not that this is a great image, but serendipitous for the first shoot. Both the dome and the flash had to split light above and below the water line. It sure made be happy that I decided to put my DSLR underwater. Regards, Bernie BTW congratulations on your new status as a hero.

Bruno, nicely done. I can appreciate the difficulty of bringing in such difficult UW shots. This is just tops as a portrait. Regards, Bernie
