  1. I love the first one the best, but enjoy all of them. There is something very special about the light and the composition, of course with the wood leading out to sea. There are alike three different sections -- the boating community, the housing community, and the beach where the viewer stands with our toes sinking pleasantly in the sand. The sun is the superstar of it all, energizing the water, with the reflective line skewed from the wood projecting. It is an inviting scene.
  2. Pnina, I am excited to see many more of your lovely portraits, dance and music pieces, landscapes. I love your photography
  3. Alf, I like this very much enlarged where the details really shine. The most prominent feature is the blueness, which does feel fairytale-like but in a realist manner. Where is the troll? Such a broad landscape with majestic mountains in the background is an effective backdrop for this lonely tree, delicate, fragile, and the leaves shown in such detail. (When I wear glasses, I see leaves like this. When I don’t, which is most of the time, things tend to be more impressionistic!) I love the left hand side where the reflections make it seem three-dimensional. There is a good relationship of water and you Alf; I think it is in your soul. I’m glad you made the effort to capture this. It is special (the orange - blue in addition to the green - blue and the fabulous light on the large rocks are delicious.) Kind regards!
  4. Hi Pnina, I love the softness. I also love the femininity, showing us lovely her neck and the embroidery, necklace, shawl around it, and the pearl earring. It's a lovely presentation. I wonder what she is thinking and saying. I love the way she emerges from the background. What is this yellow on her headdress?
  5. A cool effect as if the upper petals are merging with the environment, softening and putting fragrance in the very colors of its surroundings. I like the bit of greenery sticking straight up so sharply in contrast to the "floating away."
  6. The light/darkness play well together.  The petals and wings pop.  There is an emotional sense in this frame of a universe of aging delicacy and nature's harmony though it is easy to forget this when bombarded with the news. The diagonal harmonizes with the counter lines that cross.  I love the veins in the pink petals.

I'm so glad you came to look. Yes, there is a substantial age diference. It was fun to try drawing in colors -- just not accustomed to it, but it seemed to fit the mood. Thanks about the background -- I had you in the back of my head, urging to do it! Maybe I'll try another color again. I hope you are doing well and am delighted to see you on PN. I can't wait to see more of your work. Thanks for the encouragement.

I think in was in a flurry of distracting activity mid-May. A belated but very grateful thank you for your comment and analysis. The biggest different thing -- if I had all the colors -- would have been changing the color of hair. I'm glad happiness of this moment came through. It was at a picnic (with lots of other people) but this is an isolated moment. Thanks!!!

    A Welcome Sight

A very poignant narrative accompanying this photo of the the cycle of nature.  The large eyes really amazes me. Beautiful work

Hi Alf, Thank you for the interesting review.  I love the way you pick different aspects I focused on; it makes me feel like this is really "seen."  I made him more "nerdy" than he is, but yes, he is drawn partly from a likeness and at least 50% from my memory. And, he is funny and witty.   The books are just organic to who he is.  I'm sure he owns a corduroy jacket with elbow patches.   Thank you so much for the visit!   - Donna
  14. I like this very much. Everything looks delicate. The crop is nice too. I love the petals and the tones of the petals and the whole position of the bee on that fluffy food of the flower's center, the bee's wings, so gossamer.
  15. I have never seen a tree like this. This is really gorgeous. I love love love the Reds Flowers. Now I want one.

    Water Lily

I like the tone too. The bottom half and top right quadrant are very warm. Do you live by this water lilly?

Hi Gail! It's nice to see you back on PN. He is a teacher, but not one that is currently moving away. I'm happy the proportions look right. I wasn't stressing this one -- it was a relaxed sketch for me. If you can read 14 titles there is a prize!
  18. I was thinking she would love to have this for her whole life.
  19. I do enjoy it. It looks like Layla does too! That's a fabulous cake! Really like the elements surrounding her here. And her blue eyes --- wow!

Gail, this is really nice. She has beautiful eyes and I like this composition very much.
  21. Alf, it is amazing to so clearly see the delicacy, veins, and dark edges of the petals and the probing hairs of the greenery. This does justice to nature’s beautiful July offering. The intensity of red against the green is gorgeous. I love looking at the forms, reminding me of so many different creatures (some in the deep sea) that resemble this, yet species is unique, each entity unique. The colors make me happy.

    Bergen

A beautiful capture of the bright colors against the ominous sky just about touching their rooftops. It has an exciting mood.
  23. Hi Pnina, I see this is an old pic.  It is a nice, straight forward portrait like Jeff wrote.  He has a youthful, fun expression and his hair great.  I wonder what the occasion is here.
