It's been a few years since I've gone out for the purpose of making photographs. However, I usually make a couple a day, just being outside walking around and encountering something/someone interesting or a situation that might result in a decent photo. Try Apple's silicon case. Overpriced, but after using one for 5 years, my iPhone has never slipped out of my shirt pocket (where I always keep it) when picking something up off the ground or tying my shoes. Another benefit is the silicon cover is extremely tenacious with shirt fabric, especially when pulled out at an angle - and that gives me confidence a thief is much less likely to successfully steal my phone and run off with it in the downtown.

How to avoid being accosted, or feeling the need to carry a weapon, when making photographs on the street: ....... Don't be sneaky or deceptive when making photos with your camera. Simple.

I haven't seen Frank in a while, but yesterday he was standing near the curb and ready to tell me and my friend Jeff Spirer about the Chinese New Years parade coming up this evening, along with all of the local media that should be present. He loves TV news personalities and is always ready to give an impromptu 12 Galaxies sound bite. Frank is one of the few SF originals remaining, working the Market Street area going back at least 20 years. It was really nice seeing him yesterday.
