really nice capture - it has an olde-tyme feeling to it.

My first time shooting kite surfing. It was really something to
watch - I can only imagine what it feels like flying thru the air
liket that. Comments/critique welcome - for rate less than 4 please
leave suggestions for improvement

I think this is a young egg-yolk jelly. It was quite small - about
1" - 1 1/2" in diameter. Comments welcome

Thank you for the comments D.L.! I'll try messing around with it a little bit as suggested

This is gorgeous! I love the simplicity of both the subject and background.

It's a nice picture of this cormorant. The one improvement I might suggest is if it were stopped down just a little so that the beak was in focus as much as the eye.
I've been shooting cormorants too, & seems to me that the ones that come out better are ones in which the eye gets a lot of light. It's their most attractive feature & sometimes the only pretty color on their bodies. Happy shooting! - Terri

Brandt's cormorants - one chick feeds while other other waits his
turn. Comment/critique welcome

This pic is hilarious! I see it's been up awhile, but I just came across it - great capture

Light and DOF are really nice on this one - looks great!

Of your portfolio, this is my favorite. What pet owner wouldn't love to have a portrait like this? I'd love to know how you achieve this effect - it's awesome!

A nest pair shot at the beach in Monterey, CA. For any rate lower
than a four, comment/critique would be appreciated

Taken on a walk in P.G. today. The pink color comes from the
iceplants that bloom this time of year.

Thank you, Fiona! Our long and rainy winter is finally past, so I hope to get more nice beach shots over the summer :)
-
Thank you, Neil. Yes, this is one of the few nearby beaches where the surf breaks pretty close to shore (which I love!). The water is also a nice blue color, rather than the dark, murky stuff at most beaches around here.

that WOULD make a much better shot, wouldn't it!! He doesn't even know his picture is being taken, though. There were about 15 surfers right in the same area, & IF any of them noticed me they'd have been hard pressed to know exactly who I was shooting. Perhaps one day I can talk to one of them and get something like that :)

God bless the town that will still display this in public!
