Been to the Rodeo several times, but this is my 1st time taking
pictures. Comments/critique welcome

Thank you, Mark. Coincidently, I was just looking at your "hang in" photo last night and it's a very nice shot! I rated anonymously so that it could apply toward the TRP :) I suppose we who like the water sports are always looking at other's shots for ideas or to admire. I do feel very lucky for the weather here and my proximity to the sea. Best wishes & I'll look to your portfolio for more surf shots - T

I'll try it at the rodeo & see what I get :)

OOooo....no I haven't, but it sounds interesting! This was my first horse event & 1st indoor also. Probably won't see anything like it again for a long time. I'll be going to a rodeo next Sunday though - plenty of light (outdoors) and hopefully many photo ops there, as it'll be my 1st rodeo :)

Thanks Ken. Ratings be damned - I really like this shot :) Panning at this slow shutter speed got me a lot of blur in the background and on the horses legs, which I like. Maybe my distance (3rd row seat) gave me more DOF on the other shots. (I'd hoped to blur out the crowd more than what I got on those) At any rate, my first indoor event and a great learning experience!

It was a beautiful show watching the stallions. Indoor light was a
challenge, but I had fun shooting. Comments/critique welcome

Looks like a ballet :) Great timing!

I love the variety of colors jellyfish have. (taken at the
aquarium, Monterey)
-
They look fake, don't they? Each capsule contains 200-300 eggs, which hatch tiny squid in 30 - 90 days depending on the water temperature.
-
This photo can't do justice to these. The tiny jellys have rows of little combs that diffract light and give them shimmering, irridescent color running up and down the body - a bit of blue visible here

I like the DOF and soft, colorful background; also the way the hat brim sweeps round her face
-
Thanks for your input, Neil - this one does seem a better crop!
-
Beautiful shot! I love the dreamy quality created by the dust, flowing robes and gorgeous horses.
-
I don't know how I missed this when it was posted, but it blew me away! I never would have thought to process this shot the way you did. It's very artistic & inspiring - Terri

Yes, great panning! (a technique I've yet to master). Very good action shot.
-
Great expression & I love the high key look!
-
Experimenting with a different crop on a previous submission.
Comments welcome always

DOF is great - isolates the surfer, but still allows us to see the beautiful coastline behind. Sharp, excellent capture!
-
Really nice action shot and good lighting. Regards - Terri

This was the most agressive surfer I spotted today, yet he looked so
relaxed in everything he did. Comments welcome. For low rate,
please leave suggestions for improvement
