Thanks Kathy - looking at it again, I remember that I didn't really do much with the background. It was a very bright day on the beach, so I had a light background to begin with. I think you're quite right tho - it would be better removed Thx - Terri

Spent a day hiking w/ friends & our kids. Thought this little girl

was just beautiful, but she was so shy. Here she is looking at a

seashell in her hand and telling me about it

Seeing it small, I was a little repulsed by the look of the skin. After seeing it larger, I was drawn in my his eyes and smile. So I've overcome my intial reaction. I like the subject & am intrigued by the treatment given to the skin. Though it's not a flattering effect, it IS interesting

Surfer @ Pleasure Point, Santa Cruz. Not sure why we had

backlighting at 9am on the west coast - but there it is. I realize

the surfer is fairly central, but I wanted to include his shadow.

Might be better w/ less of a crop & subject moved left a ways, I'm

    not sure. Comments welcome

This photo is one of my favorites in your portfolio. The drama of knowing that these are real parents w/ a little one in need of TLC and not models staged for the photo just wrenches at the heart. I work in the medical field, and several of my co-workers were gathered around my monitor in awe of this photo as well. Thanks for sharing this private moment - Terri

What a great portrait! The beauty of the older girl, the sad expression of the younger, and the way the background color sets off the color of the eyes is just beautiful. The 'soft' look of the skin & skin tones really adds to the feeling of innocence and childhood.
