John, what is the condition of fall color ?
Ross

I was there in July and saw an abundance of all the species you mentioned, we have had a very late summer out west and flowers where coming up in late September in the mountains and fall color is only now getting started in some areas, I think a lot of this is seasonal and animals live by the weather not the calender. Try again next year and it may be a different story.

I would not recommend you use one on a zoom lens.

Ziess 21mm

other aspects are the fact that the 5D2 is more forgiving because it has larger pixels than a 7d, that aside I used that lens on my 40D and loved it, I still use it on my 5D2, if you want wider get the 10-22, but the 24-105 f4 is a great lens.

I also print Dave, using an IPF 6100 and still prefer FF, thing is, printing may not be around forever with e-paper soon to replace those framed prints, technology marches on.

I always get a chuckle at the "obviously the 5D2...it's a no-brainer" comments.

Dave, I have to disagree with you, from my experience a crop camera does not produce as good a quality image as a FF, I have gone the Gamut of 20,30,40D, 5D and now with the 5D2 and good glass, I am very happy, much happier than when I shot film and the overall quality of an image from the 5D2 as compared to a 7D is better and I believe pretty much undisputed amongst reviewers of these cameras. Not saying the 7D is bad, just that the IQ edge goes to the 5D2 and you have better wide angle options, like the 24 t/s lens which is really not very wide on a 7D and its edge sharpness is great.

its really a no brainer, 5D2 is the choice for landscape and portrait

Buy into the Lee system, more money but its like any thing else, you get what you pay for, adapter rings will help if you have different lens sizes. Here is a short article I wrote on them
I find LV indespensable for my Landscape work, make sure you are using exposure simulation and use the joy stick to move the metering/focus box around, meter, then exposure lock, then re focus, take the shot. try it it works great

Like scott said, these type of devices (iPad) will be the storage of the the future and Cannon cant compete in that space, ipad just needs usb and more storage and I would buy one.

John, the web site gives some pretty good advice, I use live view to meter and Lee filters which come with a protective soft case and dont add color cast, I recomend the 4 x 6 soft edge .9 (3stop) and .6 and I fave combined them with a CPL to good effect and dont listen to Ken Quakwell, er ah Rockwell. Also you might want to try using Lightroom, its great for landscape work.

I have only needed it on one lens and that was only needed when shooting wide open at 2.8, if you dont shoot wide open I dont think its needed, but then maybe I have just been lucky.

Actually can can get similar results in about 30 sec right after sunset or before sunrise, I like to use the Singh Ray Variable ND, it goes up to 8 stops, use that and a tripod and your set.

Make sure it is Arca Swiss style plate clamp, I recommend Kirk BH-1 Here
get a quad core Mac Pro with 6g of RAM

I would love to have the 24 TS, but only if I could keep my 16-35

I would suggest Lightroom, it is great and you can try a free download, I use LR and CS4, but you could use LR and Elements, LR does a lot more than Elements, but there is still no one software that does all (that does it good) so try the free down loads and judge for yourself what works best for you, I think it will depend on what you shoot also.

If your very serious about photography, yes go full frame, you will see an immediate difference, if you have a need to crop go with mp's, if not stick with your brand, both take excellent photos.
