  1. I just upgraded from the 28-105 II to the 24-105L and was amazed at the diff. the 28-105 II was always good but the 24-105L blows it away as far as how sharp my shots are, of course it's $1000 more, if you can afford the L glass go for it, if not consider the 17-40L at around $650 after rebate, also a very good L lens
  2. Here is what I am trying to shoot, I am having problems with reflections, but I only have 2 500w hotlights so if I difuse to much I wont have enough light, think I should try reflectors, I am shooting through 2 white umbrelas.<div>00G3bG-29436184.thumb.jpg.86ff8f02dcc8e7d902a1fc8fc3ada293.jpg</div>
  3. I use LEE graduated ND for lanscapes, UV screw on for every day and Circ. Polorizor for other. The LEE foundation and screw on adapter allow for wide angle shots and use with all lens sizes with the adapter although pricey about $200 with one lexan filter they are top notch and come in many types; soft,ND,Grad ND.......
  4. I have used IS binocs before and not heard a noise so after hearing the normal auto focus and then a new noise comming from my camera had me concerned, I figured some noise, but louder than the auto focus made me want to ask others

    Thanks

  5. All very good input, Thanks, I have decided to pick up the 17-40F4L and when it is not in use on my 30D it will work great on my A2E, my equipment was stolen in Costa Rica so the insurance is flipping the bill to replace a differant set of lenses

    Thanks again, Ross

  6. Gary, yes I read the artical (very informative), I am looking to shoot products as my main reason for getting lights and maybe once in a while non pro portraiture

Can't afford good strobes at the moment and don't want cheap ones.

    Thanks, Ross

  7. Need lighting for 30D w/24-105F4L and 70-200F2.8L, will be shooting

products(wood sculptures) but also want to shoot portrait. Not flash,

I am looking at constant source and looking to keep it under $1000

for 2 lights with umbrellas, diffusers and barn dooers.

Thanks in advance for your help

  8. I'll put in my 2 cents, I had a 24-105 II USM that is a great all around lens about $280, the lens in that kit is garbage, don't recomend the kit, canon has some rebates now, check those, but your camera is about as good as the lens you use, nice camera? get a nice lens. or go w/350 xt and a 24-105 f4 L.
  9. Well my 70-200 F2.8L came with one and for a few reasons I like it, great for transition between portrait and landscape, also when changing a lens in a hurry it will stop your lense from rolling, which could be a disaster and I will sometimes use it to carry my camera, it also puts les stress on you camera mount when used
