I think this has relatively good composition, she is a little bit too center for my taste but otherwise good. You are immersed in the surroundings, good DOF. The blur on the right hand is a good thing, motion on key elements helps pictures from being static. I agree that a second or 2 later would probably have been better timing to get some more human interest out of the woman.
a note on the scan. This looks a touch blue and flat on my monitor. Not sure why it looks blue as i assume you desaturated it after the scan? But, i would definitely click the contrast up a notch or 2.

Thanks for looking

When i first got an SLR, this was the first thing i did to study DOF.... Of course, it didnt look half as good!
What did you use to light this? Very good tones and exposure.
-
My thought as well!
Wow, that looks one pissed off person... Beautiful composition.

Great composition and tones. Cant beat film eh'? The light being, for the majority, being cast solely on the two subjects help them to pop.

How come every time i get light like this, i dont have a subject...?
Well done capture. Good composition and a beautiful scene.

Nice exposure. The capture of full afterburners was a nice touch.

way too underexposed on my monitor. It is generally best to overexpose (according the meter) atleast .5 to sometimes 1.5stops, especially when it is cloudy.

Thanks for the comments all.

I would challenge a painter to paint a more vivid and beautiful picture of a wind and wave-swept rock. The pastel colored clouds in the background are "icing on the cake", to use a cliche.
Perfect timing, Tv, Ev, and composition. Of all the pictures of rocks being pummeled by waves that i've seen, id be hard pressed to find one that could best this.

Kjartan, what i really love about your photography is that while you take many beautiful images that are in themselves exceptional, you still get images that are nearly completely different from what im used to seeing. I love how this is nearly blue monochrome and the blowing snow really adds to a whole feel of flowing to the picture. It really reminds me of a scene from a movie. There is really no wasted space in this picture. It is balanced quite well. The granlular snow at the bottom of the frame being as sharp as it is also seems to ground the picture in 'reality' by its detail.

i love the the play of blues and silvers in this photo. Almost monochrome. I would see if it couldnt be sharpened a little bit more though.

Simple but very powerful composition. Those clouds really make the shot, with nice soft light and nice interesting sky. I like also the color layers, a dinsct green, red, black, and slightly blue.
-
beautiful composition and colors. The reflections and colors especially in the insignia marking really hold a lot of interest, yet are not overpowering letting you still explore the rest of the plane.Nice to see some new stuff August!

Beautiful. Great composition and timing! I would brighten this up just slightly though (if noise allows), on my monitor it appears a little dark.
-
Who the hell could give you a 3/3 for this!? Would be nice to have been able to see the canopy, though.
-
awesome. Nearly straight on and the close crop, as your style, makes this one pop. Oh, and you can see the pilot's helmet! Nice clouds as well...
