    hairy ant

          4

I have never seen one this colour,  but I think this is a velvet "ant". But it's not an ant; it's actually a wingless, female wasp.  There are over 3000 species, so black and white is definitely a possibility. They do squeak when touched and try to get away.  But she does have one hurtful sting if cornered.

    You've captured her beautifully.

    The Bee

It would have been nice to have his head in focus but sometimes that's the luck of the draw when shooting anything in motion.  An excellent macro, especially with a new lens.  The appeal for me here is the filaments of the flower and his attention on his prize - the nectar inside.  You have give us a bee's eye view of nature's simpatico forces at work - the flower luring the bee in so it's own procreation can be completed.

    After shopping...?!

It seems she may be off to something a little more formal than shopping.  Such a wonderful splash of colour.  She has colour coordinated herself with he bicycle.  A super find and capture.

The rule of thirds is not something to be adhered to dogmatically, but you have used it so well in this wonderful composition.  Composition, colour, light, detail - all dead on here.  Excellent

    Together... 26

This black and white sends a multitude of messages - all very positive - about aging and determination.  The fact that these two are "in step" also speaks volumes.  So well seen and captured.

  1. Of your three images of this reflection,  I prefer this composition because it allows the mountain a little more head room.  The blue flowers in the foreground  balance the composition very nicely, especially since they are on the diagonal with the mountain

  2. The manipulation works here as does the lens distortion.  In the smaller version, there seems to be something lurking behind the barred windows.  The darkened sky near the top, giving a halo around the old building adds to the mood here.  This place is definitely haunted!

    Abundance

Well, good luck getting real critiques.  A very colourful image; I like this POV with the fruit display being somewhat on the diagonal. The people going about their daily lives is a big plus.  I also like this framing; including a bit of the ceiling gives a good sense that there is a lot of store beyond what we can see.  On my monitor, the colours seem a bit blown in places and maybe a bit too intense.  You might consider taking the contrast down a notch.

Excellent close up of this common garden spider - female, by the way.  She isn't fat - thats the egg sack and it looks like she is about to deposit them somewhere.   Excellent colour and detail.  Great separation from the background.  And a perfect moment to freeze frame her balancing act.

The sheer power of the North Atlantic is both awesome and terrifying.  You have done a great job here capturing the waves against those famous ricks.

    Peggy's Cove

I will be back in Nova Scotia (home) in about 10 days.  Thank you so much for this!  Peggy's Cove is one of my favourite places.  The sky you have captured here is so typical.
