You guys seem to have enjoyed the detail shot of the engine and
prop, so here is the whole thing. Enjoy, and comments are very much
welcome!

Pat, you hit the nail on the head - when I find the START of my talent, I'll be a happy man :)
And yes, I a Spitphile first and foremost, but all WWII aircraft have always been my first true love!
-
;)
Nice shot too!
-
Uhm... no - they ARE Republic P47D Thunderbolts, they actually don't resemble a P40 in the slightest degree.
But that's not why I am here - this is a lovely shot! Its a rare treat for me, as I haven't seen many Jugs in flight, and seeing two is a real bonus! As to the photography, this is a great image - I know you had some help from the pilots, but its a very dynamic shot of a couple of lovely warbirds. Do you have any more of these two?
-
Very dramatic image - good work!
-
I've always loved this airplane - its one of the prettiest aircraft ever built in my humble estimation (yes, its humble when I am not mouthing off about Spitfires :)). And its great to see it from a different angle, not to mention in the war time livery that just seems to infuse the viewer with images of fedora-over-the-eyes wearing secret agents with up-turned collars at "neutral" airports :)

First off, lovely shot - very picturesque, very much telling of the mystique these more-than-mere-machines hold for so many.
As far as cropping suggestions, I would have to agree with the above suggestion - crop it to an 8x10 aspec, putting the right (viewer's right) rail running right into the corner of the image. That will also balance the image a bit by placing the locmotive more at a thirds intersection (I know - I HATE those hard and fast "rules" of composition and have little time for the people who seem unable to see past them... but sometimes they do work as advertised!).
Anyhow, just a suggestion:)

Look, there is no need - just find the LF you obviously wanted to shoot in the first place :)
Seriously though, I am not crazy about it, and for once I think its not because of Spitphile tendencies, I simply don't think it really works well as an image.
-
I like it - very moody. I am cold just looking at it!
-
You know how I feel about those composites... (sigh) but this is a pretty fine exapmple of one.
-
After a long, debilitating drool, I have gathered enough of my wits to see that yes - the light could have been a little more co-operative.
This photo also demonstrated why those of us who build model aircraft usually have as little hair as I do... try getting the insignia right! And that's just the tip of the iceberg...
-
August, I just had a complete Fawlty Towers flash back!:)
-
Yep - the GT40. Proof that if you put 16 cars on the starting line, you have a good chance one of them wins:)
I do like the new GT, though - I am glad Ford had the balls to make it!
My dream car? Its hard - 1973 911RS is the first that comes to mind. Then there is a list of other real 911's about a page long. But, then you have the rally cars... Maybe an Integrale...? Or a Stratos? I couldn't just have one... :)
-
Yep... still hating you :) I will get my better half to take some shots of me right now on some Velvia so that you can see exactly what shade of over-saturated green I am:)
Jokes aside, I love the XVI and the V heading off into the distance the most, but all of them are lovely of course!
-
I hate you :)

August, I know that the design was intended to function that way, but sometimes I think the results were a little more random:) You often see the historical footage of a group of airplanes taking off, and the sequence sure looks uhm... shall we say... less than clock-like in its precision!
This is of course to be expected given the kind of wear and tear some of these planes took in active service, and the often "wing and a prayer" methods of keeping them flying... Ah, anyway - its so iconic and I just love it!
-
There is one you don't see very often!
As far as the photo goes, I see that you were quite enamoured with the wet surface of the apron - and I can understand that, it certainly makes for interesting options. The one thing that I would change about this photo is that judging from the other shots of the Thud and the 21, there is room for you to move to the right, and use the edge of the hangar as the right edg of the photo - I don't mind other aircraft, etc., but the parking lot really detracts from this photo.
-
I love the way the gear never goes up quite at the same rate on these old birds (not just Spitfires!)! Great capture of such a characteristic warbird moment. And of course... it IS a Sptfire!
-
August, you're an EVIL man! :)
-
Lovely! I like these kinds of arrivals!
-
Always a pleasure when Mr Kamm's pictures appear! What an unpretentious feel of nostalgia in this shot - obviously because its genuine, but something that just has to appeal to an aviation enthusiast as well as a photgrapher!
-
If you do find it, I would love to know which issue - I may be able to get my hands on it. And no need for thanks (at least on my end), as your images bring me a great deal of enjoyment - its the least I can do!
-
Must be genetic! I am four times his age and I would be very, very pleased having taken this shot! Good job!
