This good with the only distracting part being the bottom of the adult's fingers missing. That is just a slight nitpick. Focus is good as are the tones.

Thank you Shenandoah, Danielle, Len & J. I appreciate all your observations. I also prefer this shot over my studio shot but I wanted to show both. I am pretty sure he was looking at his mother in this shot. Being that he is 13 months old, he didn't want her to get too far out of his reach.

Len - I do prefer the 50mm when doing outside shots but boy I get some blurry ones when I am open shooting these little movers. I got a few really crisps ones - I believe I was holding tight around F4 and 1/160.

Hi Nicole - I didn't do anything special to his eyes besides dodge the catchlights a little. The blue is his real blue color. Lucky little boy isn't he?

Thanks Shenandoah - I LOVE photographing little ones and if I had a larger market area that is all I would do - 2 years old and younger. But being in rural Iowa, I have to do the gamut of shoots which I guess in the end just helps me appreciate the little ones even more:)

I order mine from BH Photo - I have about 10 different colors and almost use paper exclusively with exception to my large black drop. Oh - another hint is that I use a large piece of heavy-duty plexi-glass over the paper to get a slight reflection and most importantly keep it protected from tears and baby fluids:)

Oh, I hope so. I'll have to pose her at this location and style when I take her senior pictures some day. We can set them out at her reception and compare them. Thanks for commenting.
