Beautiful. If I HAD to try something different I would try highlighting to see if I could create a little more detail on the face. But why fix what is not broken? Great picture!

Emily, I prefer this one to your other similar offering of Sammy though both are fine. I love the tight crop and the off-center subject placement. Keeps the eye focused on his adorable face. The focus is properly on the eyes and the bright reflections there provide an additional spark of life. Though the skin is on the overexposed side (for an adult) here, the lightness accurately portrays a toddler's tender skin. The off-camera gaze lends a believable candid look to the shot. No way I can think of to 'improve' this one. Run straight to the printer, print, & frame for display. Another validation of the 50mm normal lens. You done good. Best, LM.

Great shot...I like this one better than the other pic of this child...this one has a more intimate feel...I really like his averted gaze...I can't help but wonder what he is contemplating...very engaging portrait. Nicely captured.

Thank you Shenandoah, Danielle, Len & J. I appreciate all your observations. I also prefer this shot over my studio shot but I wanted to show both. I am pretty sure he was looking at his mother in this shot. Being that he is 13 months old, he didn't want her to get too far out of his reach.

Len - I do prefer the 50mm when doing outside shots but boy I get some blurry ones when I am open shooting these little movers. I got a few really crisps ones - I believe I was holding tight around F4 and 1/160.
