    Holding her hand

I think it is perfect and sweet - hold on tight they grow too fast!! I would recommend a little more contrast to brighten it up and burn the background a little. That is just nit-picky and my personal preference. The point you are making is captured perfect.
  1. Great shot Jayme - I prefer the color rendition a little better. I like the softness of it but this one is awesome too. My only little critique is when I look at I am drawn to the mother's eyelash - it seems a little too dark. I know you tried to do that but I would rather be pulled to the child's eyes and expression. Make sense?? The moment captured is precious. Too bad she couldn't to this with both of the boys:)

I thought I'd check your portfolio out since you took the time with mine. This is sooo cool!! Normally, I don't care for the bug photos but this is really neat and original. Of course, now I'll have to try to copy the effect with one of my baby/kid shots - take it as a compliment!!! Great job
  2. Hey to the viewers that gave me 1/1 and 2/2 - I'd appreciate some feedback with your ratings. I don't think I've ever given a 1/1... You must see something that I have missed and I'd love to hear from you.
  3. I recently order a white backdrop off of ebay - I only paid $14.00 for it so I was excited....until I received it. It turned out to be a poly paper-canvas like substance that wrinkles extremely easy. But after I used it - in this shot and in the one of the "glowing baby" I think it works ok - can't be picky when dealing with $14.00. I'm still looking for a reasonable high key muslin though...
  4. Thanks critiquers... I just took this yesterday along with numerous others. Some yet to come. She is one month old and I find it so challenging to pose such little ones - especially when the parents don't want to be in the shot.

Jayme - funny you should mention the announcement idea because that is what the mom wanted me to create - ideas for her announcement. I thought about this one on the outside of card and a small one of her face in the corner of the inside along with all the stats....

    Thanks again - Emily

  5. I know many of you do not like the selective coloring effect --- but

as you can tell from my portfolio I do. This one happens to be one of

my favorites with the pink ribbon emphasizing the gift of a

baby "girl". Thanks for your feedback.

I like the photo alot...my only recommendattion would be to desaturate the flowers a little bit since you have such a high-key effect with the rest of the picture. The effects kind of fight each other...if that makes sense.

Beautiful colors and tones. How sweet and feminine. Great job... Did you use any filters to enhance the colors? 6/6

Thanks Lynnea for your great comments on my portfolio. I too am just starting out and am always looking for creative poses and props. As you can tell, I prefer portraits and am in the process of opening a studio this fall. Your horse picture is great and original - for some reason I drive around and can never find anything interesting... I haven't developed any skills in still life or nature yet. I plan to post more photos each week so keep checking my portfolio out and always feel free to critique me both good and bad. I'll keep watching your portfolio also. Another photographer that inspires me is Jayme Hall - when you have time check out her portfolio she has a huge talent. Thanks again....

Great photo - my only suggestion would be to take the pink item out of the right side of the picture. It is kinda of a distraction. The background blurred images is a nice touch.

Darling - I love it! The lighting is really good. Did you ever buy the alien digibees? I saw some of your posting and I too am looking for portrait lighting for a Nikon D70. If you did purchase it, how do you like it???
