  1. If my subscription "automatically renews" I will "manually un-renew it". This site is BROKEN!
  2. The easy takes months; the possible takes a lot longer.

Looks like Essie Davis, and that is a Good Thing. Could use a bit of selective sharpening, though.
  4. Rodeo Joe: The original question was about film on a film forum. If you have no comment on the OP, just stay out of the thread. This is presumably about a class the poster is taking, and he may not have the option to use digital.
  5. More downhill "progress" on this site. I hate contests anyway, but this nonsense on an international site is ridiculous.

    Self-portrait

You look a bit like Steve McCurry. It's interesting thay you, of all people, have one of the only realistic images in Trending.

    blissful aging

Marvelous! The genuine engagement of the subjects makes for a warm and true portrait. Do we know who these people are?
  8. The street is still a great place to photograph. There are all kinds of realities to be seen.
  9. I posted about a similar situation a little while ago. I won't give up my rights, nor will I ostentatiously insist on them. I will say that I have had FAR more pleasant encounters than angry ones.
  10. Well, after a back-and-forth with Nikon, I decided that before I spent any money, I would set up the most rigorous tests I could. Everything seems okay! I have no idea what went on, whether it was operator error, operator stupidity, or something else. At any rate, thanks to all for helping, and apologies for wasting people's time. Les
  11. BTW, it does look as though the lens mount is the problem.
  12. Just sent images to Nikon, and expect to send the camera to them.
  13. I'll send Nikon the test images they want tomorrow, and see if the camera should be sent in. I bought this used, so there could maybe have been some kind of damage, but its certainly not visible.
  14. Hello all: I have a problem with my D600. With a large selection of lenses, OEM and third-party, if I shoot a flat object in landscape orientation (tripod, camera level), the top of the image is invariably softer than the bottom. The difference is not small. I've come to be fairly sure that the sensor is somehow tilted. The lens mount is secure, no loose screws, and the camera shows no sign of any impact damage--not even a scratch. I called Nikon repair, and they suggested I try a two-button reset, which sounds silly. If that fails, they want me to send a few sample images. Two questions for this group. Has anyone seen or heard of this problem? If so, what was done about it, if anything. Is there any possibility that a reset would make the slightest difference? Attached are two 100% screen grabs to demonstrate the problem.

Light is a bit contrasty, but I just love the expression.

    angela

Interesting concept; good, delicate tonal range. Some worms crawling out from under her arm.

Good piece of minimalist art indeed. The stripes on the background work perfectly.

Great use of the wide angle view. The child does indeed anchor the image, but the donkey is the star.

Flowers needn't be perfect to be beautiful.
  20. Have a couple of his books. A fine and honest craftsman, with a true vision of America--for better or worse.
  21. As I mentioned in a post, I have now replaced my D600 screen with one of the Chinese-modified FM3 split/microprism screens. This works well. It is darker than the OEM screen, but allows for very accurate manual focusing.

Tony is right. Only image on the page that isn't bright, clear and digital-looking (film can be digital-looking).
  23. Yeah. [sigh]. Still the slightly darker grey-on-grey text when writing posts, I have to sign in every day, and sometimes twice per day, and am NOT sent back where I was after I sign in. For Ansel's sake, FLICKR fixes things faster and responds to posts more quickly than PN. My first post here was in 1997, and I got an immediate reply from Phil G. This has been my go-to place on the internet for twenty years, and I still enjoy the forums, but things seem to be getting slower and slower. Posts appear to be way down, and I know we're losing members.
  24. Looks like film, either Kodak Portra 400 or Fuji 400. First and last images don't really impress me, but #2 looks nice. There may be a preset or action involved to desaturate some colors, but just the film stock itself should get you in the ballpark. It would help to know how your film is scanned, or what LR/PS presets you are using.
