To you Diana, great shot, nice dof..and all around compostition. Maybe just maybe a bit over exposed in the background upper left...I think that metering just to the left of the tree would have helped with that...then again maybe not. I like the picture. To the artist that carved the tree...Bravo.

Nothing but good things to say about this image. 7/7

There are times when you see something that you really like and at the same time find no words to explain why. This I like and I am at a loss to explain why...nice shot.

Fighting the lights...any suggestions on how to kill those nasty
reflections would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance for
any and all help with this.

Eye candy, enjoy. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

The composition is great, some fill lighting would really do this image some justice, all in all a good capture, I like it.

nonrepresentational: not aiming to depict an object but composed with the focus on internal structure and form.
Just kidding, the image was croped from a photograph of a crystal paper weight

Photography like any other form of art is subjective. While one person may find a photograph very pleasing to look at, others may not see it the same way. It would be better if low ratings were required to have a follow up comment as to the reasnon behind the rating. All we can do at this point is except the rating and press on. When I get a low rating that does not have a follow up commet I don't pay much attention to it.

Well I'm not sure, do you mean an ashtray, a smoke, a cup of coffee, or a charming co-worker..:-p

This tree carving just caught my eye one day, so I thought I would
share it with all of you.
-
I really do enjoy the company of my co-workers, no really.

That photo inspired me to look around for the same kind of shapes...something living. Here are the results.

How do I set up lighting to completely eliminate the hot
spots...this was shot at home in the studio using a home made light
tent.

An attempt at changing the percieved depth of field and adding a
glow to the over all image. Your thoughts and ideas on how this
could be a better image are very much appreciated.

I like it. Kind of feels like a dream, well done.

Your comments are most welcome, your ratings mean nothing without
them.

Kim,
It did make it through the storm, later that same day it was standing back up as if nothing happened.

Looks like the problem here might be a lack of post processing. Your image is underexposed. You can fix that in a couple of ways. You can either decrease your shutter speed, or increase your ISO settings. Then again you could adjust the levels in a digital darkroom such as Photoshop or Photoshop elements. If you decide to go with the shutter speed option keep an eye on your histograms for over exposure. It is much easier to compensate for an underexposed image than it is to attempt to correct for an overexposed image. It has been said that overexposure is death to a digital image.

A quick snap shot before my lens had the chance to fog over...

Kim, thank you for the compliment. Seeing that you enjoy gazing at this photo you have my blessings to view the larger version and save it for your desktop....enjoy
