Thanks for the kind comments. Unfortunately, the reason my mam's face is sort of expressionless is because she has Parkinson's disease. This 'Parkinson's mask' is one of the first subtler indicators of the disease. However, she may well be unhappy as well since she hates her picture taken.

Please don't worry about my mother though, Parkinson's isn't fatal and although she can't get out anymore, she is very happy and I love her very much.

    Many thanks,

    Kevin

A master shot of composition and exposure. I would be interested in how you get the exposure spot on, fill in flash, and what equipment did you use?

    Fantastic and I hate snails.

Excellent shot and brings back very happy memories of being there.

Keep your beautiful craft coming Jeff.

    Best wishes,

    Thanks Jeff,

This is Gayatri my excellent PhD student who is looking at changes in antioxidant metbolites and post-translational modifications of proteins after stroke. We are using MRI to look at the brain injury and mass spectrometry for the metabolites/ proteins, the latter being my speciality. My main research interest is genetic metabolic diseases and trying to find out what is wrong with kids when everyone else has run out of ideas.

I am actually based at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Sick Children (the one that JM Barrie left the rights of Peter Pan to) which is a post-graduate teaching hospital and part of University College London. However, I am entirely research based, with my own research team, which is a mixture of medics and basic scientists. I am a biochemist with a PhD, so a PhD in a sea of MD's and BSc's, teaching them all how to get a PhD!

    Many thanks,

I have just viewed this on my work computer and it looks like I have over done it with the saturation of colours.

Looks better in the house but 'false' in work.

    many apologies,

    Kev

  1. Documentary at its best. Your latest series are really interesting pictures, none of the clich餠efforts like my portfolio, forgive me if I start to copy you. Plagiarism is the most sincerest form of flattery I believe!

    As always magnificent,

    Dear Jeff,

This is portraiture at its best, absolutely and utterly pin-sharp eyes. This is not only a technical masterpiece in photography but the subject matter is also absolutely beautiful.

    Fantastic work.

    Best wishes,

    Kev
