  1. Thanks for all the comments. Jeff, I agree that the star is lacking - comes from my low cost, but sharp Rokinon 14mm. It might be easier to just clone off the stars and leave a round sun.

Well done. Great light and handling of it. I might crop off a bit of the lighter foreground which draws my eye down from the mountain main event.
  3. The clouds pouring over Sourdough ridge made for a very dramatic sunset spectacle.
  4. Trying out a new Batis 18mm on my A7rII
  5. I love the composition and beautiful soft light. Nicely processed.
  6. Thanks for the comments. Yes, I'm very lucky to live up here in the only cool corner of the country at this point!
  7. I'd thrown my camera gear in the car "just in case" when going out to dinner up on Chuckanut drive near Bellingham WA. We had time afterward to drive up to the Samish Overlook and waited for sunset which didn't dissapoint.
  8. Thanks for all the comments. Larry, yes I spent the night on top of Dege peak near Rainier to get this shot. I was lucky to have it all to myself during the night, but other hikers watched the sunset with me and arrived for sunrise (it is an easy hike). This one was shot at 20 sec., f2.8, iso 3200, 14mm Rokinon, Sony A7rII.
  9. The Milky Way looks to me like it is erupting from Mt. Rainier.
  10. Taken on a day of summer backcountry skiing on the slopes of Mt. Rainier.
  11. I sat and watched these marmots wrestling, chasing, and generally playing with each other on the slopes of Mt. Baker for a half hour.
  12. Perfect light on the peaks - enough to show some detail, but also dim enough to look somewhat realistic as a night shot. the position of the Milky Way is excellent. I'd clone out the satellite, but that's just my preference. You might also want to play with the color balance a bit to tone down yellow and green.
  13. I got this shot at the end of a wonderful day of summer back-country skiing high on the slopes of Mt. Rainier. We had made a run down the Cowlitz Glacier, then another on the Paradise. All that was left was a long traverse back over to Mazama Ridge and down to the car. I asked my 3 partners to go ahead so I could get a shot of their tiny figures with the late afternoon shadows and the distant peaks of Mt. Adams on the left, Mt. Hood to it's right.
  14. Taken from Heliotrope Ridge on the slopes of Mt. Baker in Washington's North Cascades.
  15. Thanks for the comments. Larry, this is a Sony app that only works on their latest higher end cameras.
  16. This is one of 720 shots taken by my A7rII with the time-lapse app while I slept on Heliotrope ridge. I love modern tech. that does so much of the work for me!
