  1. Thanks Pierre, I've shot from this location (next to the road) many times in the winter while cross-country skiing, but this is my best spring shot so far. I've done some difficult climbing on this mountain so it holds special meaning for me.
  2. My wife and I enjoyed a pleasant spring bike ride up the closed Mountain Loop Highway. The north face of Big Four still held much of it's winter mantel of snow.

    Plasti-wrapped!

Doesn't do anything for me, other than give it a plastic wrap look. Might work for some abstract images but not this one IMO.
  4. I love how the clouds and ridges flow from the center drawing you in. I would rotate a bit left to center the horizon.
  5. the line of lighter rocks leads nicely into the valley - a path to enlightenment in the stark and lonely mountains. Good exposure - I like the dark mass of the wall on the right you let go to black, gives a yin-yang feel to the scene.
  6. I'm a sucker for lone trees and mountain backdrops so I quite like this. The light on the low clouds is striking, and you nailed the exposure to keep detail there and let the shadows go. It would be interesting to see what is out of the frame, both top and bottom, a bit more on the bottom would give the tree more weight and prominence. More of the sky could also work to show the mountains and sense of place. I also think a crop of what you show could work, totally removing the upper mountains, - the bright sky in the upper right does draw the eye away from the tree to an area not as interesting. Nice B&W treatment.
  7. Taken just below the summit of Mt. Baker on a spring ski day. Note climbers nearing the top.

    DigAlt

One of the better digital alterations I've seen on PN.
  11. What is the black square in the top left-hand corner?
  12. Striking image that jumps out at you. Contrast of golden grass and blue sky is great. The leading lines of the highway are esp. effective - could be even more so if the white was emphasized here even more. The white on the mountain though is a bit blown out - can you get any detail back there? I've gotta go there!

    Coming to Life

Flowers are great, and after reading your work on this I'd say you did well. My niggle is the dark hills on the right - dead give away of GND - do you think you could have blended another even darker exposure and done away with the grad?
  14. You've done as well as can be expected documenting this place and time on a day with washed out sky. As part of a slide show it could work well, but I wouldn't print it myself. I hope you got some better light there.
  15. Thanks guys, this was shot with a Sony A7rII and 70-200 f4.
  16. Gorgeous. Did you play with the color balance any to get the golden light?
  17. A nice cloudy spring day in Seattle's Washington Arboretum.

    Overcast!

I would like to see the church brightened up.

    Untitled

The sky is blotchy, with an unnatural line of light blue along the horizon and too dark of a line above, but not around the center of the tree.
  20. Composition and setting are very interesting and many great elements. The sunset bothers me though - looks like a hard edge ND filter? The dull sky there doesn't jive with the nicely lit icicles. If that were taken care of this could earn a 6 from me.
