  1. Nice composition with the visible hand, the gentleman leaning forward into his surely difficult walk and the people in the background, visible but not distracting.

I'd be tempted to brighten up the gentleman a little bit to make him stand out more. In the Monday morning quarterbacking department, it would have been great if you'd been able to capture the whites of his eyes. But that's the way photography is ... fractions of seconds peeling by at the speed of light.

    Nice work.

Fascinating the way the light falls directly on your main subject. Excellent also that your subject is framed in that lovely oval. Only criticism I can think of is that it might be nice if we could see the baby's face. A step to your right might have fixed that, but then again, I wasn't there and it's possible there just wasn't any room.

    Very nice shot.

    Theo,

Interesting shot. In some way it works, and for the obvious reasons. You've got a solitary figure dwarfed and isolated in a large, mostly empty setting.

Looking at the elements in the frame, basically you've got some kind of food cart on the left, which is closed and adds to the feeling of solitude. You've got some far off industrial structures, I think, you've got the person and you've got a lot of cement.

I would have liked to have seen the figure facing the camera. I like that the person is in the distance but in this case, the distance is so vast that all we can really determine is that it's a human being. There's no body language to suggest solitude or expression.

In any case, I do like the photo. Keep up the good work.

I looked over your portfolio and was impressed at the singularity of your style. This one, I think, is the best. It carries some implications about war with an uncommon color scheme, which I quite like. Just my interpretations, of course, but I really like this picture.

You're absolutely right, Sean. Stupid background details do tend to screw things up when you're working hyperfocal distances.

    Thanks for everyone's comments.

Nice portrait. I find the position of the car in the background a little distracting, but sometimes, when doing spontaneous work, there are cars and phone lines and other things that we can't exactly move out of the frame. Keep up the good work.

At first glance, you've really captured the moment I think you were looking for. But looking at it longer, there's a bit of discomfort in both womens' faces. The poses, however, are perfect.
