Very nice shot, Paulo. Are there more in this series? Could you give us more details on when and where it was taken and why this man is a refugee?
Keep up the good work.

You've captured this moment very nicely.

Fascinating shot

Lovely color and soft light, Monica. Keep up the god work.

This is absolutely fantastic.

Suchitra,
Your black and white work is fantastic and I really like these last two photos -- they're more spontaneous than some of your other work. The curve of the sidewalk from the back to the front really brings the viewer's attention to the two girls in front. My only criticism is that I'd like to have seen a tiny bit more separation between the foreground girl on the right and the figure with the black shirt behind her. Things get a little cluttered around there. Looking over your portfolio, I think you've got some very good work and the potential to do absolutely fantastic work. Keep it up.

You caught the moment -- great gestures and drama.

There's something I really like about this photograph, something to do with the pastel sky and the pastel dusky colors on the grain elevator or cement facility, whatever it is. It's really, literally a travel picture, like something I'd see at a blink while driving across the country. Completely unpretentious. You've captured the beauty of this scene without trying to force the scene to be any more or less beautiful than it already is. Good work.

Beautiful light.

This is very nice in terms of composition and tones (to an extent). It looks like you may have tweaked curves a little bit "wrong" (and I know this is a subjective thing) because there are some sort of dead, non-reflective spots on the skin that are a bit irregular. It's obvious, though, that the shot is a good one. I think you may just want to go back and process it a little bit less.
Keep it up.

I've got to tell you, Sarah, I'm not crazy about this shot. First, you've got some blur issues happening. I don't know if it's camera shake or if you're just pushing the limits of your sensor too far. But the wrinkles in the man's face suggest that there's a lot more gritty detail to be had here, details which you could have dug out by getting much closer or using a faster shutter speed.
Second, pictures of beggars are a dime a dozen. I sometimes wonder whether people shoot beggars simply because they won't object to being photographed. You're not alone -- I've shot beggars, too. But I try to avoid it as it's a subject that's been covered to death and will be covered to the death a thousand times more.
All of that said, you have a lovely portfolio and I think the best photos on it are the ones in which you take some chances. Example

I hope none of this sounds harsh. I also hope you'll continue working and posting. We don't see enough photographers from your part of the world. It's truly refreshing.

Very nice, Carmen. So nice to see a photographer taking chances, trying so many different things, not conforming to rainbows, technicolor landscapes and other photographic lies. Particularly love the green shower sequence in your portfolio and hope you will continue to work, pushing limits.

This just works -- color, light, softness. Keep taking chances.

This photo packs some serious drama, flames, black landscapes and smoke. It seems to me, though, that there's something strange about the focus, and also, about the contrast. I think you might try selecting the "land" portion of the picture and bombing up the black point. Good work, in any case. I like it.

A clean, sharp, picture perfect postcard.

Fantastic light. I love the way the gray sky falls away into the background and the warm tones on the tree and stones jump forward. Keep up the good work.

Beautiful tones. No need for a title, though. The picture tells the story.

Very nice poses, almost classical.

Interesting tones and composition.
