Pierre Dumas 304 Posted June 3, 2008 The use of the B&W technique is right here, so many tones and again so well contrasted! PDE Link to comment
mozy 0 Posted August 14, 2008 Beautiful portrait.. Amazing detail in the face. It's good to see that someone else still uses film cameras other than me! Well done :) Link to comment
mark_starr 0 Posted August 18, 2008 This is another amazing and powerful portrait. Of course the detail of this particular man's face certainly play a large role in this, as do the wonderful tonal range that you have created, but for me, the real essence comes from the photographer not being afraid to engage with the subject. Up close and personal makes so much more of a statement and adds so much more power to the image. There is no getting away from his direct gaze, and it forces the viewer to confront him in the way you did. We are forced to ask questions in our own mind about him - no getting around it. Many street shots on this site are forgotten seconds after viewing them - not this one- great portrait in every respect- Mark Link to comment
cezaryfilew 0 Posted August 19, 2008 Hallo John, I guess this is the strogest photo of those you let us see. Definitely powerfull... but always when I see a picture of a person looking straight into the camera, I have a sensation that something has just been lost... Of course I realize, that using wide angle for portraying persons makes it almost unevitable. Anyway, good lens - and the Eye. Cheers! (Show us some more) C.F. Link to comment
