  1. That's a nice camera, Ken. Those Fugi's make some nice pictures. Now you'll have to put it through it's paces here pretty soon. Wish it was rainin' here. We are gonna call it a drought pretty soon. Not the best year for a garden. I think a late freeze got the peach tree the other night. Oh well, when it rains it pours and when the economy busts it busts. Just gotta let the sun come up again.

I always vowed in the last Depression that I was gonna have money to spend in the next one... April Fool's, I'm not that old but I did hope I had money if things ever got like this but it was wishful thinking. Should keep me honest.

Post us some pictures when you get to get out next time.

Kim y'all hang in there, too. Here in Texas we're used to things dryin' up. It's almost second nature for us.

Well I gotta run to town real quick but I catch up with y'all again soon.

  2. A peculiar garden of beautiful alien creatures... or pods of incubated aliens preparing to open.

They look like they are at the brink of coming to life... None to eager it seems to begin or perhaps they have an unpleasant mission ahead of them...

I like the anticipation that this still photo leaves me with (5, 4, 3, 2,... as the all rise to their feet.)

    Nice capture. ~Sky

Hi Sandra, Thank you very much. Taking these photos were discussed for almost a year. There were some health issues early on. I really doubted that they would take place but finally everything came together a couple weeks before this last Christmas. Nothing was certain until a couple of days before and the session time was established and to get everyone there it was scheduled to be just before sunset. It was almost too close to sunset. Late arrivals only left about 15 minutes of good light to do the work. (I was almost worried especially after the first couple of shots.) Their clothing was thanks to their wonderful mom and the pose was my doing.

I think it would have been a shame for this image not to have been made. These times are so fleeting. Without a photo, we almost forget how our families are at any given time through the years. I was very proud that this photo came together.

I certainly appreciate the time you have taken to look and comment. ~Sky

  3. We have to be in pretty good trouble when McDonald's has no jobs. I'm afraid I gotta replant my garden if it froze last night. We got a late freeze only 12 hours after having an 88 degree day. Could be meals of venison and turkey here pretty soon and rabbits and squirrels after that! I'd like to say that I don't know what's happened to America but truthfully, I've seen it coming for a spell now. It is indeed good to be a country boy during these times. If I start seeing hoboes in town then I'll know we are in a mess. Maybe when I am a hobo, I'll realize it.

Kim is gonna be working hard if she's going to have to tan hides again.

That's the style flash bracket I need with the portrait rotation. I'm afraid my camera is too big for that too. I found one like I want with the rotation but I'm not about to pay better than $300 for it. Plus, I know I could build one but never seem to stop and do it or have time to get started. I'm D3 size with my battery compartment.

It's probably nice having family at home right now while you get back up to speed.

    You keep doing well, ~Sky

Thanks Kim. She is a cousin to the other 4 kids.

These kids were very happy and had wonderful smiles. My Spanish is limited so I imagine it may have been easy to smile at me. ~Sky

(Oh, I did move that picture.)

I appreciate that. Talk about infectious smiles, especially the little fellow on the left. It was fun taking their photo and I smile from ear to ear everytime I see his smile. (Their grandfather had been very ill earlier in the year but is doing good now.)

  4. Glad you're better, Ken. When I have some money to throw around I might want to see about you fabricating me a "Flash Bracket" and maybe some tiller parts. A country boy can indeed survive. Take care. ~Sky
  5. How are we supposed to wish you well? If it hadn't been for Kim, I'd still have no idea how you were doing. Hope you're rapidly on the mend now. Needless to say you will need to spend next Valentine's Day somewhere besides the house! (just kiddin')

Thanks for the visit, I appreciate you taking the time to edit out that taxi. You take care of yourself; I'm sure I'll need few tips on what to do after a stoke pretty soon. I hope you're getting around as good as new and I will look forward to seeing some photos from that new camera posted pretty soon.

Best wishes and glad to hear you're doing well even if it's a month overdue.

    Godspeed, ~Sky

    - a pleasant surprise and good to hear from you! Hope all is well for you and your family. Thanks for the input on this one, I do appreciate it. (Damn taxis; they're never around when you need one but when you don't...) It's nice of you to take the time to edit the distraction in this one. I've been needing to revisit this photo since I blew out some of the white hood in processing. Just haven't had time.

I probably do need to break away from the photojournalist in me and process my images for a more artful look. When I send them to print, I usually break down and edit for a more appealing look. Hope you're still shooting as much as you used to. I miss getting by and seeing your photos; although, I don't get to be on as much as I used to. (I knew a good mystery woman would get you back... )

    Take care, ~Sky

  6. Hi Margaret, Yes staying young seems to get more difficult the older I get.

This young man has joined the military. Hopefully he'll have a bright future. He plays the guiter very well. I'm glad for your visit. ~Sky

  7. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I used to frequent those kinds of frog ponds but I haven't been to one in a spell. I guess I'll have to use a skillet for reference... er, dinnerplate. (wait, that didn't sound any better did it?) ~Sky

The cardinals have seemed much more lively this winter. I think because there was more seeds left at the end of summer. I drive through Seymour and Austin several times a year. You know I'd have been tickled to drive to Seymour to say howdy in person to you and Bob. ~Sky
  8. ...I always get hungry looking at your photos. Good capture. When I'm on foot they don't hang around too long. These jakes will really be colorful in a couple of years. Looks like y'all had a good time.

Good capture, Kim. There was an abundance of them this year.

Should of hollered, I'd have bought y'all a fried chicken dinner and had a cup of coffee with you at the Rock Inn.

    Best Regards, ~Sky
